The Limited Aspect of Christian Love - "I love you, but I don't like you."

If "God had led this man to a liberal church" then I think the plan of God for this man would have turned out just like God intended. :hmhehm He did comply, but he was mightily blessed with supernatural manifestations, which sure helped in 'that department'.

The Limited Aspect of Christian Love - "I love you, but I don't like you."

It was a great story. One caveat with scripture though. We live in a Mennonite community and they regularly practice 'churching' or 'shunning' some brethren. They do so saying it is because some sins are dealt with "outside the camp" as in the days of Moses. It is the same 1Cor 5 scripture...

The Limited Aspect of Christian Love - "I love you, but I don't like you."

That is a good first question. But one I really can't say I know, for sure. His mom and dad are. I agree with your Corinthian verse, that's not one brought up very much. Our Methodist church just went through one and the split was devastating. It was the biggest church building in our town...

The Limited Aspect of Christian Love - "I love you, but I don't like you."

Part 4: We went home and I immediately shared this same decision with my younger brother who was a church elder for 20 years. I also shared it with a younger man I have coffee with every week. And I also shared on the phone with two strong Christian mothers. And I watched the 2 faces when I hit...

There's a part 4. But I thought I'd wait a little longer, just to see if anyone else comments before posting it. What do you think? I know you're going to love it. :My2c:

Did God the Father or Jesus create angels

No more confused than I would be thinking you had three heads just because you are a triune being. 1TH 5:23 May the God of peace himself sanctify you wholly; and may your spirit and soul and body be kept sound and blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. I've posted it twice I think...

Did God the Father or Jesus create angels

No, I don't believe "the Word is Jehovah". You are correct ""The Word" is a title", just like "The Father" and "The Holy Spirit" are titles. And you deflecting to the above statement, still never answered my original comment; quote: "I thought the PRE-INCARMATE Jesus was the WORD. So are you...

Did God the Father or Jesus create angels

Yes, JESUS was alpha and omega....not the WORD. Jesus was the 'firstborn'....not the WORD. And Jesus was born with the 'spirit of Christ in his 'Word became flesh' body. And yes, he was "a new creation", because Jesus represented the LAST ADAM as opposed to ALL, who are born into the world of...

The Limited Aspect of Christian Love - "I love you, but I don't like you."

I'm sure that we've seen the gamut just as you have concerning this issue. The church has justified hatred many times in its history. I'll just post part 1 and 2 for any newcomers. Or just a reminder, because this was a while back. Part 1: We have had this family reunion at Branson/Silver...

Did God the Father or Jesus create angels

I thought the PRE-INCARMATE Jesus was the WORD. So are you saying GOD made the WORD? That's a problem. As for God's first creation...we aren't talking about the first Adam who wasn't 'born'. We are talking about the "last Adam" born with a quickening spirit in him....the spirit of Christ...

How many times did the apostles receive the Holy Spirit

Do you have anything to support your 'opinion' above? I admittedly got stuck on studying this verse a week ago. I do know that the word "DAY" is not in the Greek following the word "third" in verse 32 and also in verse 33. For whatever that's worth. LUK 13:32 And he said unto them, Go ye...

How many times did the apostles receive the Holy Spirit

Did your "chase" include studying the Greek word "lambano" which gets translated as "receive" in John? If not, it's pretty worthwhile IMO. That's the Greek word that's always used when receiving the baptism 'gift of power' from the Holy Spirit, the 'giver of the gift'. And "lambano" carries...

Did God the Father or Jesus create angels

Just an opinion here; Rev 3:14 "In the beginning of the creation of God"... wasn't 'the Christ'. John 1:1 "In the beginning was the WORD"....and the pre-incarnate :14 "WORD became FLESH" (a body). The Holy Spirit birthed the 'spirit of Christ' into that body of flesh. That's when the...

How many times did the apostles receive the Holy Spirit

Have you ever considered the possibility that the John verse was prophetic? My studies have led me to believe it was pointing to the day of Pentecost.

You either have the spirit or you don't

I believe you either have the spirit or WILL. But the timing is up to God. Even Satan's job seems to make sure the plan of God for ALL his creation will be accomplished. 1CO 5:5 you are to deliver this man to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that his spirit may be saved in the day of...

Is the Logos meaningful, or meaningless? - Depends on your view of Logos.

It is sad that the translators can't just seem to translate words consistently; That Greek word is only in the NT 2 times and both are in this chapter. JOH 14:2 In my Father's house are many mansions/MONE: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. JOH 14:23...

I was very interested in what you posted, even the "cover blown" comment, but just couldn't quite push the 'like'. Don't want to mislead people into thinking I'm agreeing with something 'wrong'....like that could ever happen here. :r.u.n: Your post intrigued me. :Broadly: I hear your...

Is the Logos meaningful, or meaningless? - Depends on your view of Logos.

KJV JOH 6:63 It is the spirit that quickeneth/"gives life"; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words/rhema that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. So just exactly what "the spirit" above, are we looking at? It is not capitalized in the KJV, RSV, YLT But it is capitalized in...

Is the Logos meaningful, or meaningless? - Depends on your view of Logos.

Agree. The body/flesh/sarx of Jesus came from the logos of God. But not the spirit of Jesus. It did not come from the logos. "God is spirit". The father, the word/logos and the Holy Spirit were spirit. The logos gave up equality with God, as spirit, and became the incarnate Word which had...
