Why its important to keep the Sabbath

You spelled "commandments" wrong. "...even Ten Commandments, and He wrote them on two tables of stone." No where does it say Moses wrote anything on stone tablets. There are several irrefutable arguments from Scripture showing the distinction between the Moral Law and the Mosaic Law. No...

Why its important to keep the Sabbath

So, you agree that although Jesus is our lifegiver, our faithfulness, our reward, and our truth, we aren't free to kill, commit adultery, steal, or lie.......YET......somehow you think Jesus our rest grants us permission to forget the only commandment that begins with the word "Remember". Got...

Why It's DISHONEST To Claim The Sabbath Commandment Isn't Found In The NT

I think it's safe to say when it comes to the Ten Commandments, the message conveyed is anything but figurative: He didn't trust a man to write it for Him, He wrote it down twice to make sure we retained it, and He wrote it in stone to demonstrate the permanence of it.

Why It's DISHONEST To Claim The Sabbath Commandment Isn't Found In The NT

I can understand why one who engages in oversimplification would feel that way.

Why its important to keep the Sabbath

I think you mean "Rest" - by which we keep the Sabbath day "holy" by not working on it.

Why It's DISHONEST To Claim The Sabbath Commandment Isn't Found In The NT

"a" is an "indefinite article". "Bring me a chair" refers to no specific chair. "the" is a "definite article". "Bring me the chair" refers to a specific chair. "..but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord."

Why its important to keep the Sabbath

Do you believe that since Jesus is our reward, we can rob banks? Do you believe that since Jesus is our lifegiver, we can become life takers? Do you believe that since Jesus is our faithfulness, we can sleep with the neighbor's wife? Do you believe that since Jesus is our truth, we can now tell...

Why its important to keep the Sabbath

ICUMI: Days 1-3: God created the spaces Days 4-6: God fills the spaces Day 7: God creates a space of time and fills it with Himself. Can we really expect to find any darkness anywhere in that?

Here is why, as an Adventist, I believe America is in Trouble.

Says the homie who doesn't love Jesus enough to keep His commandments (John 14:15 KJV) but expects God to "deal with it". It's sad that people who think they're going to heaven won't even cross the street for a Savior willing to CROSS the universe to save them. Can you imagine how hard...

Why It's DISHONEST To Claim The Sabbath Commandment Isn't Found In The NT

Randy, it's catastrophic hermeneutical error to ignore the Biblical distinction between the Moral Law of Ten Commandments and the Mosaic Law of ceremonies and sacrifices - the Scriptural evidence abounds: Mosaic Law was "nailed to the Cross" - the Ten Commandments "stand fast forever and ever"...

Here is why, as an Adventist, I believe America is in Trouble.

Since Christ fulfilled "thou shalt not steal" are we free to rob banks? Since Christ fulfilled "thou shalt not commit adultery", are we free to sleep with the neighbor's wife? Since Christ fulfilled "thou shalt not lie" are we free to be dishonest in business and church contributions? SO, WHAT...

Why It's DISHONEST To Claim The Sabbath Commandment Isn't Found In The NT

Sorry, but I don't see how anything you've written disproves anything I've written. It seems the common premise of you, BB, and David is that broader concept of "spiritual rest" overshadows our need to enter into literal seventh day Sabbath rest. It's true that Messiah came to "magnify the law...

Here is why, as an Adventist, I believe America is in Trouble.

Keeping ourselves from "lust" doesn't negate "thou shalt not commit adultery". Keeping ourselves from "hate" doesn't negate "thou shalt not kill". Keeping ourselves from "deceitful body language" doesn't negate "thou shalt not lie". But, somehow entrance into "spiritual rest" means we're to...

Here is why, as an Adventist, I believe America is in Trouble.

Yes, and you'd know this if you'd stop hiding behind the English "rest" and do a bit of research which will lead you to understand that "rest" is translated from the Greek "Sabbatismos" in the Textus Receptus or the Syriac "ܠܡܫܒܬܘ" in the Peshitta - both of which refer to the weekly seventh day...

Here is why, as an Adventist, I believe America is in Trouble.

You misunderstand my position. Sabbath is not my "god" - it's the SIGN of my God I worship because "it's a sign between Me and the children of Israel forever". Yes, that age old tactic of lumping the Mosaic Law which was "nailed to the Cross" with the Ten Commandments which "stand fast forever...

Here is why, as an Adventist, I believe America is in Trouble.

"If ye love Me, keep My commandments". John 14:15 KJV "It is therefore the duty of (Christians) to keep the Sabbath". - Hebrews 4:9 KJV God couldn't have made it any plainer than that. Rejection? Hebrews 4:9-10 KJV says those resting in the Gospel of Christ will demonstrate that by resting...

Here is why, as an Adventist, I believe America is in Trouble.

Pretty sure I presented Scripture - not opinion - as the basis for why the only rest that "remains" for the saint is "literal rest" - seeing that saints are supposed to have already entered "spiritual rest", right or wrong? Counterpoint much?

Here is why, as an Adventist, I believe America is in Trouble.

Your idea that the symbolism of the Sabbath rest - our rest in Jesus - somehow negates the literal substance for which it springs - the 4th commandment - is unBiblical nonsense. Conversely, it's our duty to keep the 4th commandment to outwardly demonstrate the inward rest we have in Jesus. "If...

Why It's DISHONEST To Claim The Sabbath Commandment Isn't Found In The NT

IN THE KJV, Paul instructs believers in Hebrews 3:11-4:11 on the topic of "spiritual rest". He uses the word "rest" 11 times, and in each case the word is translated from the Greek "kataposis" which means "spiritual rest" - except in the case of verse 9 where it's translated from "Sabbatismos"...
