    Answering Predestination "Proof" Texts

Since "God so loved the world", so does Psalms 5:5 mean God went ahead and gave His only begotten Son for those He "hates" anyway, or those He "prefers less" than others love Him in return? Proverbs 6:16-19 refers to actual intense, bitter hatred of God toward sinful acts/attitudes, not the...

Absolutely, which means that the only way anyone today can be a true Israelite is according to whether he makes Jesus his "blessed and only Potentate", not according to real estate.

    Answering Predestination "Proof" Texts

No, the sin of the Edomites is what did that. That bit about only applying to family is subjective - no chapter of verse. John's claim that "God is love" and your claim that "God hates" are mutually exclusive. God hates no one, but He definitely "prefers less" those like Esau and Edom who sin...

Now you're redefining Biblical terms! You're actually arguing that a small minority of disenfranchised Jewish saints represent the nation of Israel, while the entire religious ruling class and the masses of Jews which joined them in shouting "Crucify Him!" - and continued the entire Israelite...

    That's why I spelled "gentleman" with a capital G.

    Answering Predestination "Proof" Texts

Saying, "you're wrong" is not argument, Dave. Would you hire an attorney whose only strategy was to ask the judge to skip the arraignment and go right to trial, and then skip the trial and ask to have the case thrown out because as an attorney he finds himself in the "unique" position of...

Our culture is fascinated by violence and war so that was a bit of commentary on that.

Rapture Top Dogs Admit no Proof Exists.

First of all, your assertion that OT and NT evidence is needed is subjective. Only that we have "two or three" witnesses, but I agree more is better. The two texts prove that Israel is done, and the the kingdom of God has been handed over to the Gentiles, which is evidenced by yet another...

    Answering Predestination "Proof" Texts

No, foreknew doesn't mean He did anything except exactly what it means: know them before they existed. To insist that He did something with that knowledge - designate, set aside, slate, etc. is purely subjective on the part of those who insist that unless you can point to the verse.

    Answering Predestination "Proof" Texts

So, you agree that Jesus' command to "hate" means "love less", but when Scripture says God "loved Jacob and hated Esau" we can't interpret that the same way? that He "loved less Esau"?

    Answering Predestination "Proof" Texts

God is not gentle? If you read how God dealt with the apostate kings of OT Israel? He is so gentle that after Ahab had married a Baal worshiper and done more evil than any other king before him, killed many prophets of the Lord, made treaties against God's will, took the possessions of a...

    Answering Predestination "Proof" Texts

So, I guess we better get busy hating our loved ones if we want to get to heaven, like Jesus said we need to?

And you do so because you lack the ability of intellectual criticism in this area.

    Answering Predestination "Proof" Texts

The lexicons I looked at limit the interpretation of the Greek to "foreknow", and do not extend it to mean "predestinate". If you are correct, then we should be able to re-write it as: "For whom he did predestinate, he also did predestinate" which re-write sound's weird, don't you agree?

Just because I didn't list every verse which proves my point doesn't mean they don't exist. I try to exercise a little brevity once and a while. God knows I struggle between the desire to be comprehensive but not weary the people with long winded posts.

Limited atonement means salvation by grace. Universal atonement means salvation by works.

In the English language, words matter. The Ten Commandments were the "words of", which preposition "of" indicates that those "words" - the Ten Commandments - are a component of the whole (the Old Covenant) - not the whole itself. Again, you're taking a verse intended to convey to the people...

Limited atonement means salvation by grace. Universal atonement means salvation by works.

Not one person will be covered by God's grace if they refuse to confess and be empowered by the Holy Spirit to forsake (stop commiting) sin: "He that covereth his sins shall not prosper, but whosoever confesseth and forsaketh his sin shall have mercy."
  18. Phoneman777

Limited atonement means salvation by grace. Universal atonement means salvation by works.

Exactly. We aren't saved by works, but we'll be judged by them because our works are the evidence we've been saved by grace.

Dave, ridicule of another's argument is no substitute for factual criticism of it.

Sure: Revelation 13 says the First Beast will rise up as a religio-political power, but receive a deadly wound, which will be healed, and then all the world will "wonder after the Beast". That Beast is the papacy, according to the prophetic timeline that begins in Daniel and continues through...
