    Why the cross actually saves

If my beliefs were indefensible, I'd abandon them. When I discovered that Dispensationalism and Jesuit Futurism were indefensible, I did just that (never believed Jesuit Preterism, so no need to do so).

    Why the cross actually saves

My point was after Peter was filled with the Holy Ghost, he still made mistakes. Tried to kill Malchus, tried to turn Jesus aside from the path to Calvary, lied 3 times about knowing Jesus...even Jesus said to him concerning the sifting he would soon experience at the hands of Satan, "when you...

    Why the cross actually saves

Like you, the Unmerciful Servant thought he was secure in his forgiveness too, but found out the one thing not on that list is our decision to say "thus far and no further, Holy Spirit".

    Why the cross actually saves

His humanity, or as the Bible puts it "in the days of His flesh" when He took on human nature to accompany His divine nature.

    Why the cross actually saves

True, but my point is that Christ did lay aside His divinity and submitted Himself to the Father in all things to show us that by accepting the Holy Spirit in us, we too can overcome sin and "walk even as He walked".

    Why the cross actually saves

I'm pretty sure after Peter was filled with the Holy Spirit he went on in his prejudice against Gentiles for a while, until Paul rebuked him and in Acts 10 God showed him "not to call any man (not pork) common or unclean."

    Why the cross actually saves

But, isn't that saying the same thing? If I lay aside my new $350.00 Fluke 87V and test that 9V with my tongue, haven't I chosen to not exercise the Fluke? (Can you tell I'm really stoked about the Fluke! Look at all the stuff it does: True RMS, Freq. for testing ASDs, Foreign Voltage...

    Seventh day Adventism

The fact that there will be false prophets is evidence by that alone there will be true prophets. Otherwise, the warning would simply be "Beware of those claiming to be prophets."

    Seventh day Adventism

What about Revelation 12:17? Do you believe the Bible? Please don't tell me that only the first 3 books of Revelation are unfolded.

    Seventh day Adventism

"Hereby we do know that we know Him if we keep His commandments. He that saith, I know Him, and keepeth not His commandments is a liar and the truth is not in him. But whoso keepeth His word, in him verily is the love of God perfected. Hereby know we that we are in Him." 1 John 2:3-5 Adventists...

    Why the cross actually saves

So, how does this post disprove that Jesus had two natures and at times spoke and acted according to His divinity and other times spoke and acted in His humanity?

    Why the cross actually saves

John the Baptist is positively identified as being filled with the Holy Spirit from the womb, but we're going to doubt that the One John was specifically raised up as "the voice of one crying in the wilderness" to announce His arrival had that same Spirit?

    Why the cross actually saves

I don't divorce them, I point out that He was simultaneously both. When He said, "I and My Father are One" He was speaking as Almighty God but when He said, "The Son of Man can do nothing of Himself" He was speaking in His humanity.
  15. Phoneman777

    Why the cross actually saves

Really? He was conceived by the Holy Spirit but somehow wasn't filled with the Holy Spirit. How'd that happen?

    Why the cross actually saves

There's an old hymn with a line in it which says, "Yield not to temptation, for yielding is sin..." Not a sin to be tempted, but to give in to it. "...each victory will help you to some other win; Fight manly onward, dark passions subdue... Looking ever to Jesus, He will carry you through."...

    Why the cross actually saves

I can. 5:7 "Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, and was heard in that he feared; 5:8 Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered; 5:9...

Well, truth is a much needed revelation nowadays.

    Seventh day Adventism

John says those who claim to know Jesus but break His commandments are liars and have no truth in them.

    Why the cross actually saves

Amen! Just bragging rights for something that was no great feat? Nope, He overcame sin.
