Easter ? What are we celebrating?

You might be interested to know that sounding technology existed at the time of the writing of the book of Acts. See Acts of the Apostles 27:27-28.

Easter ? What are we celebrating?

How do you know it didn't? Were you walking around in the 1st Century A.D.?

Trinity vs. Tritheism: Understanding the Trinity.

Isa 55:8, For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. Isa 55:9, For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

Trinity vs. Tritheism: Understanding the Trinity.

There is one Spirit according to Ephesians 4:4. 1 Corinthians 12:4-6 also has bearing on the issue.

Easter ? What are we celebrating?

However, when referring to a timetable, saying Easter does not give a different message than does saying Passover. And the point I would make about Acts 12:4 is that it is referring to a timetable. However, if it is accurate by the Holy Spirit, I find that it presents an interesting pov...that...

    Calvinism is a Cult

Consider the analogy, that there is a room we call grace...and that there is a key to the room that is normally located inside the room. Now when we encounter Jesus, He says, Ask, and it will be given you. So then, if we ask Him for the key to the door, He will go into the room we call grace...

    Calvinism is a Cult

It is the choice that they make (of course, I say this at the risk of all of us going in circles again).

Easter ? What are we celebrating?

Therefore to translate "pascha" in Acts 12:4 as "Easter" is not inaccurate.

    Calvinism is a Cult

Yet, we have access by faith into this grace (Romans 5:2). So we cannot have this grace apart from faith. How then can faith be the result of this grace? Faith must precede grace by definition of what the scripture teaches. Grace given cannot = the gift of faith; since faith is needed to...

    Calvinism is a Cult

Yes, God generates the faith; but not apart from the preaching of His word. Romans 10:17 is clear on that.

    Calvinism is a Cult

We are definitely saved by grace...but there are too many verses that say that faith is part of the equation for me to believe otherwise.

    Calvinism is a Cult

If one verse in the Bible defeats Calvinism, then Calvinism is untrue...and I find that at the very least, Romans 5:2 defeats Calvinism for those who are spiritually able to see what is in front of them. 2Co 4:3, But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: 2Co 4:4, In whom the...

    Calvinism is a Cult

I haven't seen any instance where any of you have pointed out any contradictions in what we believe; nor have I seen any instances of rage that you are speaking of...(thread name, page #, and post #?)

    Looks like a real believer...

    Calvinism is a Cult

Same argument that Catholics use to declare that the Protestant pov isn't true...therefore if it is valid, we should all convert to Catholicism today...

    Calvinism is a Cult

It was God who became flesh; not 1/3 of God; and not a 2nd God.

    Calvinism is a Cult

When faith stands the test of fire, it is evidence that the thing that is believed in is faithful and true. That is all I'm saying. Of course someone can believe in something and it not be true. Faith in Jesus is a substance, however; it can be counted on as a firm foundation.

    Calvinism is a Cult

The fact that Christians disagree on issues only shows the sinfulness of man and the imperfection of human understanding. This is something that the Bible declares is a reality.

    Calvinism is a Cult

If they believe in Jesus then they believe that He is God; otherwise they don't believe in Him (as He really is). Therefore they would not be atheists if they believed in Jesus. You are also using the term "believe in" to denote "I believe He exists". I am defining "to believe in" as meaning...

Workers of the flesh will not inherit eternal life

Your best bet is to treat everyone like they are a believer, taking into account what it says in the following: Heb 3:12, Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God. Heb 3:13, But exhort one another daily, while it is called To...
