Why John 6:37 is grossly misunderstood and misapplied

Amen...you call on the name of the Lord, you shall be saved...not like what Hyper-Calvinism preaches, that you might not be saved because you might not be one of God's elect. You have to consider that there is only one word in the English language for faith (I don't know about what it is in the...

Why John 6:37 is grossly misunderstood and misapplied

I'm saying that only a heart faith is unto righteousness and enduring unto the end...there is a type of belief that is shallow, lukewarm, and/or nominal...it is not a saving faith, it is a dead faith. The transformation of faith is accomplished by faith alone apart from works...but the...

Why John 6:37 is grossly misunderstood and misapplied

2Co 5:21, For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. The faith of Luke 8:13 is mere mental assent...a nominal, lukewarm, and/or shallow faith...while the faith of John 5:24, John 6:47, John 10:28, and Hebrews 13:5 must be a...

Why John 6:37 is grossly misunderstood and misapplied

Is there anyone except Jesus who has no unrighteousness in him?

Why John 6:37 is grossly misunderstood and misapplied

It means that Christ came not for the sake of condemnation but for the sake of redemption...He died for the sins of the whole world...and those who receive Him, to them He gives the power to become the sons of God, even to those who believe on His name. re #286.

Why John 6:37 is grossly misunderstood and misapplied

Thanks, big sis (because I turned 46 in the beginning of this year)...you just made my day!

Why John 6:37 is grossly misunderstood and misapplied

Yes...mixing faith with the word preached...we do this, while they didn't do that in the old days...which indicates that it is a fork in the road...some do it and others don't.

Why John 6:37 is grossly misunderstood and misapplied

I agree with you for the most part. For, Rom 10:17, So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Why John 6:37 is grossly misunderstood and misapplied

That sounds like salvation by works to me. (I peeked in for a second, so sue me :D).

Why John 6:37 is grossly misunderstood and misapplied

For me it had to do with an act of the will; and it is funny how John 7:17 was just mentioned for that is a scripture that has a major part to do with my testimony a part of which I have already posted in this thread. But I will go and retrieve it and put it below. When I do, I think that you...

Why John 6:37 is grossly misunderstood and misapplied

Nope, it comes from God; but we receive faith as an act of the will: we must either receive or reject Jesus Christ when we are faced with the gospel. I think that the following scripture is appropo: Mar 9:23, Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that...

Why John 6:37 is grossly misunderstood and misapplied

How am I boasting of myself? My faith is given to me by God; just not by making me born again first. Rom 10:17, So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Can Jesus and Paul be reconciled on the LAW?

The apostles used great plainness of speech (2 Corinthians 3:12 (kjv)); and therefore the literal interpretation is the most valid.

Can Jesus and Paul be reconciled on the LAW?

In this thread Paul has been questioned as a valid apostle. Call it circular reasoning if you will, but it says in Titus 1:1 that Paul is an apostle according to the faith of God's elect. Therefore, if Paul is correct in writing this...if this is scripture, as Peter declares it is in 2 Peter...

Why John 6:37 is grossly misunderstood and misapplied

The Calvinist preaches that a man can make a decision for Christ, calling on His name; and that this has the possibility of not availing for him, if he is not one of God's elect. Only the decision of God is what determines whether a man shall be born again. Therefore repentance is not an...

Why John 6:37 is grossly misunderstood and misapplied

You are contending for the idea that none shall be saved. Are you sure that you want to go there? It means that you will not be saved. Rev 22:17, And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the...

Why John 6:37 is grossly misunderstood and misapplied

Jesus is a gentleman, and He was/is the friend of tax collectors and sinners.
