For those who don't believe in prophets today....explain this

Or, perhaps, the reason why no man understandeth him is because no man is present in the room who understand the language that he is speaking in through the Spirit. Which is not to say that someone who might understand the language might not be present somewhere else. Since the context is the...

For those who don't believe in prophets today....explain this

Some have determined from this that there are two different types of speaking in tongues: what is spoken of in the above verse and what is spoken of in Acts of the Apostles 2:1-13.

For those who don't believe in prophets today....explain this

Word of wisdom, word of knowledge, exhortation, teaching, and every other speaking gift should never contradict the reality of what we see in our King James Bible.

I agree. And I suppose that this also means that I won the debate concerning everything else.

For those who don't believe in prophets today....explain this

Some people think that they have the gift of interpretation when they do not. I think that the real test is if someone hears them speaking in their own language when the speaker has no knowledge of that language. And there is testimony of that in the church movement that I hail from.

For those who don't believe in prophets today....explain this

Did you look up Acts of the Apostles 2:7-11 or didn't you? I believe that that passage explains my pov adequately without any exposition on my part, in refutation of your idea that when we pray in tongues, the one speaking in tongues can understand what he is saying. When you pray in tongues...

For those who don't believe in prophets today....explain this

The fact that you do not know indicates to me that you haven't looked up any of my scripture references. Tongues have not ceased; I speak in them myself. You are attempting in your doctrine to forbid to speak in tongues; the scripture says not to do that. Go ahead and interpret it that way...

For those who don't believe in prophets today....explain this

Please on elaborate why you think this is; because I don't see your point. I have heard testimonies where tongues were spoken in a large church setting, and no one had an interpretation; but then an unbeliever who was a bartender at the hotel where the church meeting was, testified later that...

    Jesus!

Can you educate me on the experiences of Daniel Webster with Jesus and satan?

    Okay thanks.

I think that you might be caught up in the heat of the battle and may not be examining every side of the issue. Have you looked up the scriptures that I have referenced?

For those who don't believe in prophets today....explain this

If you can testify that this is your personal experience when praying in tongues, then maybe I'll believe you.

For those who don't believe in prophets today....explain this

Praying in the spirit means that personal understanding (of the Lord's word) will be enhanced; a prayer language by nature is not the native language of the person speaking (did you ignore Acts of the Apostles 2:7-11?). Iow, no, when a person prays in tongues he does not understand what He is...

For those who don't believe in prophets today....explain this

I find that time spent praying in my prayer language generally gives me a hunger for more of God's word; and my understanding is also very probably enhanced by virtue of operating in the gifting. Not to mention my spirit is edified. 1 Corinthians 14:15 also tells us that to pray in the spirit...

For those who don't believe in prophets today....explain this

I believe I am directing people towards portions of God's word that validate a spiritual gift, that others here are seeking to direct people away from. Who here among us normally gives reference to the Bible concerning what they are saying; and who among us generally doesn't? To validate...

For those who don't believe in prophets today....explain this

I see that your aim all along was to invalidate the salvation of those who have the gift. Kudos to you, my friend. I know that praying in tongues at one point in my life was critical to my staying saved because of the spiritual attack that was leveled against me. I don't expect you to...

For those who don't believe in prophets today....explain this

People who pray in tongues edify themselves in that they are praying in their prayer language and this benefits them: they are also keeping themselves in the love of God. You also appear to have not looked up the scripture that I referenced (Acts of the Apostles 2:7-11). I am not pushing...

For those who don't believe in prophets today....explain this

Simply not true. Tongues by nature is speaking in a language foreign to the speaker's native language (Acts of the Apostles 2:7-11). Their heart isn't right towards the Holy Spirit, although they may have mental assent to the tenets of the gospel. I believe that we were talking about this...
