Direct confrontation with Russia seems likely

    Not unless he becomes suicidal.

Well, he's the chief. No one gets to tell him he can't be fat.

I haven't learned about it yet. We may yet agree on this matter in the future.

So I guess Hegseth gathered these generals together to give them what for, and to let them know there's a new sheriff in town. Pretty good speech, I must say. :gd

To be fair, the Soviet Union is no more. :confused

    It's a funny thing...

Right. How do you do that? How do you discern what the truth is? Not at all. But supernatural claims during that time, and from that part of the world, are a dime a dozen. So there has to be something more than just "well, it's in my favorite book" or "he's my favorite person" in order for me...

Well, who am I to judge? Oh, right. I'm Riven. It's what I do. :funlaugh2 Anyways, you know, the Orthodoxy is very foreign to me. But at least on the surface, they're the only denomination that's actually trying to appeal to men and not just bring them into the fold as servants of Christ, but...

    It's a funny thing...

Very true. I certainly question many things about the history that the victor inevitably writes. It isn't only biblical accuracy and it's reliability as a source of history that I hold in contention. If it were merely mythological, it could be easily dismissed as just that --- myth. The trouble...

In what context? Few things outside of religion require that kind of belief or disbelief. Ideally, God would interact with humanity directly instead of hiding. Otherwise, ones relationship with Yaweh isn't any different than the ancient Greek's relationship with Zeus.

Likewise, Fran. :gd Well, not everyone, including Christians, agree that he is God. You've never disagreed with God about anything? I had some ethical questions myself after reading the story of the Israelites wiping out the Canenites, for example. But notice how he doesn't say that these...

    It's a funny thing...

That's a great question. Seeing as how I never met the man personally, it's difficult to discern if there are any of aspects of his personality or behavior that I dislike. Plus it's like, which Jesus are we talking about? The Jew that was wandering around Jerusalem in the first century, or God...

    Hey Riven, May I ask?

But why does he show miracles to some and not to others? I honestly don't know enough about these biological processes to really answer your questions.

    Hey Riven, May I ask?

No, can't say that I have. Astrologers probably think so. I doubt it. That Jesus was literally born out of Mary's womb again? I can just imagine look on Joseph's face. :funlaugh2 Yeah, that's kind of standard Christian doctrine. Well, I'm very happy for you. I myself, have seen none of...

    Hey Riven, May I ask?

Who says I don't? It doesn't mean my view is anymore scientific. The question assumes God is the one doing it. Other animals also reproduce. Reproduction appears instead to be an evolutionary process. We are more advanced, yes. One could view life itself as a miracle, but it still does nothing...

    Hey Riven, May I ask?

Alright. But the miracles are the important parts. Jesus rising from the dead is important to the story.
