What becomes of our faith if the Genesis account is NOT literal?

To be fair, from where else would you expect the durable/essential (assuming one acknowledges the existence of such a thing) ones to come? :) .

What becomes of our faith if the Genesis account is NOT literal?

If the Genesis account isn't literal, and human beings evolved in a gradual, slow process from lower life forms, then there's is no human (or even Angelic, in the case of Lucifer) culpability for the existence of sin, which effectively makes God the deliberate author of sin—a deal-breaker in my...

Did Jesus say that adultery is grounds for divorce? - Nope.

In the context of ancient culture, a female divorcee could conceivably have been a more cruel fate than being widowed, unless the hardness of heart produced quite considerable abuse. Think about it. :) .

Hardest Commands of Scripture for You?

E.M. Bounds's books on prayer are excellent. Andrew Murray's works are very good as well. Just a couple of places to start exploring. CCEL.org used to be a good resource. Many books are free or $1 for Kindle. :) .

Hardest Commands of Scripture for You?

Check it out: https://webstersdictionary1828.com/Dictionary/Nice If you're inclined to read books about the Bible, I highly recommend ones written or translated during the Second Great Awakening (roughly throughout the 1800s). You'll see a lot less of folks superimposing their opinions and...

Hardest Commands of Scripture for You?

I don't expect it, either, except from myself. The word doesn't even have the same meaning it had 200 years ago - lol. .

Hardest Commands of Scripture for You?

You're much too kind. Whatever wisdom I may have stumbled over came from the same Place that dispenses all wisdom, as I'm sure you're aware. "If any of you lack wisdom..." (James 1:5) But you're right, of course. It's much easier to spot folks who are hungering and thirsting after...

Hardest Commands of Scripture for You?

It's a simple, but objectionable matter, I'm afraid. We pray too little for the gift of the Holy Spirit. Christ spoke a lot about this—we don't. The problem is that the Spirit is not divided. If we expect Him to guide us, we must be ready to be guided wholly. We can't have the comfort and power...

Hardest Commands of Scripture for You?

There is indeed a fine line between "instructing those that oppose themselves" and "striving." We like to impose man-made, boader and clearer lines, such as distinguishing between "essentials" and "non-essentials," etc., but there's always some gap left in these methods that involves relying...

Coming out testimonies reveal the source of same sex attraction

No, but I'm not the slightest bit dispensationalist, either. I believe that every follower of God, from Adam forward, has been saved by the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. Sorry to disappoint. .

Coming out testimonies reveal the source of same sex attraction

I'd be curious to know what would be the point of presenting Scripture to someone who has already perpetrated extensive historical criticism on all of the pertinent passages. .

Coming out testimonies reveal the source of same sex attraction

The image of a man lying with a man as with a woman is "blanket" enough for you? .

Coming out testimonies reveal the source of same sex attraction

As if God should have a wholly different standard of purity for women than for men? There's quite enough expressed there to warrant due caution. Unless, that is, one is actively searching for syntactic loopholes to soothe her aptly agitated conscience. .

Coming out testimonies reveal the source of same sex attraction

No single, seemingly satisfactory, all-encompassing statement is necessary. The preponderance of Biblical evidence reveals the truth about sexual purity, but self-seeking and sophistry will always succeed in concealing it. The only sexual framework that the Bible validates is that which...

Sabbath or Sunday? What did Jesus teach & show in scripture?

Oh, the sun is hot. And that principle is what makes your arbitrary commentary denying plain statements of Scripture correct. .

Sabbath or Sunday? What did Jesus teach & show in scripture?

Theological word salad But I accept your apology for being wrong. Goodbye .

Sabbath or Sunday? What did Jesus teach & show in scripture?

Jesus didn't say anything about a Jewish sabbath—He said that the Sabbath was made for mankind. .

Sabbath or Sunday? What did Jesus teach & show in scripture?

Yeah, everybody says that. Which part am I arguing with? .

Sabbath or Sunday? What did Jesus teach & show in scripture?

So, it just all depends on what you want to call whatever it is you want to be "in effect" or not. Got it. .

Sabbath or Sunday? What did Jesus teach & show in scripture?

Luke 23:50-56 KJV — And, behold, there was a man named Joseph, a counsellor; and he was a good man, and a just: (The same had not consented to the counsel and deed of them) He was of Arimathaea, a city of the Jews: who also himself waited for the kingdom of God. This man went unto Pilate, and...
