Bibliolatry: Worship/knowledge of the book MORE than the author

I said it was an expression - referring to the Greek Interlinear is hardly a sin. What translation do you consider is the most dependable ? By the way - do you really think that having the right translation is salvific ? Do you really think gleaning the rudiments of the faith from the NIV...

Mmmm... Actually I lived with the Blaiklocks - salt of the earth and loved Jesus. Sad to see you just 'mouthing' again... James 5 17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and...

Mmmm... Personal attacks and false accusations are not really appropriate. It would have been better to ask me if I thought the Scripture was God breathed, and ordained - and I would have confirmed this as I have in previous posts. James 3 17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure...

Bibliolatry: Worship/knowledge of the book MORE than the author

I have already explained I used the term as an expression. It seems when I ask a simple question like 'what do you consider a perfect text or translation' you dive for cover. Is it the New World Translation, or the Book of Mormon, or the writings of EGW, or the KJV, or the seven volumes of...

Sorry Rella - I said John by mistake, I meant James.

Your response shows me that your attempt to discern my position is way off target. It seems you are unwilling to disclose and discuss your beliefs. Once more the simple question. What text or translation do you claim is perfect.

Not so - My Greek tutor was Prof Blaiklock who was the Prof. of Classics at Auckland and was on the translation team for the NIV. He explained that anyone in business in Jesus day understood the rudiments of what he called Coptic Greek as it was the universal trade language of the time. In fact...

Sorry my mistake - James 3 13 Who among you is wise and understanding? Let him show by his good behavior his deeds in the gentleness of wisdom. 14 But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your heart, do not be arrogant and so lie against the truth. 15 This wisdom is not that...

I am very much into spiritual discernment - please share what text or translation you consider perfect. :)

Please point me to a perfect text or perfect translation.

Yes, the wisdom from above is reasonable - able to be discussed according to 1 John 3. Refusal to discuss raises flags for me.

Bibliolatry: Worship/knowledge of the book MORE than the author

Not from me... My take is that He has watched over the process of preserving the Truth of His Word down through the ages and we have a treasure of resources both old and new to be mined for gems. At the end of the day the final arbiter is the Holy Spirit granting understanding to the reader so...

I think we may be encountering a KJV only teaching. I have asked politely the question twice and been ignored...

Mmmm... I really pressed your button sorry.... I will try again - which translation to you lean on ???

Bibliolatry: Worship/knowledge of the book MORE than the author

No it is not a lie... it is an expression. We know Jesus quoted from the Septuagint in the Greek - It is therefore valid to refer back to the text He quoted from to improve our understanding. The Greek language carried meaning beyond the ability of English. Which translation do you lean on -...

Pantheism is about worship of the physical creation. We are to worship Him in Spirit and in Truth so you have noting to worry about in that regard. He sustains creation but is not creation. His Omnipresence is not physical.

Bibliolatry: Worship/knowledge of the book MORE than the author

The Eternal Living Word of God is much more vast than the words in Scripture. The words in the Bible are sufficient for our understanding and salvation but are not exhaustive. The Bible says not all Jesus said and did is recorded therein. That fact does not demean the Scripture - it serves Gods...

Bibliolatry: Worship/knowledge of the book MORE than the author

You wont find that distinction in the original text - this is a function of translation in some versions only. New International Version I will bow down toward your holy temple and will praise your name for your unfailing love and your faithfulness, for you have so exalted your solemn decree...

Then I need to ask you the same question - Is Jesus on the throne with the Father and the Holy Spirit in Heaven or is the bible on the throne?
