Speaking in tongues is NOT a gift

How many times have I said the gift is holy spirit of which there are nine different ways it can be manifested? You seriously haven't seen that? I reject the deity of Christ? I guess you also haven't seen where I in fact have said more than once that Jesus was divine. I think that would mean I...

Speaking in tongues is NOT a gift

You should be able to see at least a half dozen times where I said everything we have from God is a gift, including the nine manifestations, of which tongues is one. Are you that prejudiced against me that you insist otherwise? Why not read what I say as it is written? Do you read the...

Speaking in tongues is NOT a gift

Is that all you got out of that? I didn't call you anything. I just said that telling someone to stop preaching is something the devil would say. When compared to the verse I quoted about God telling us in no uncertain terms to preach, is that true or false?

Speaking in tongues is NOT a gift

I stand corrected on that. You're right. Thanks for the heads up. I got sloppy. So what did happen on the day of Pentecost? Did they get anything they didn't have before?

Speaking in tongues is NOT a gift

That sounds exactly like something the devil would say. Here's what God says; 2 Tim 4:2, Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. Hmmmm...who to believe?

Speaking in tongues is NOT a gift

What does my being a "wise guy" have to do with tongues? Do you want to know what compels me to do something or do you want to talk about tongues? I'm fine with the latter, but I have no interest in me or anybody else being a "wise guy." Have you still not gotten the message? I must have said...

Speaking in tongues is NOT a gift

And you're not? Didn't you just complain about me getting off topic? There is nothing in the OP about me hoping anything, let alone that people would believe me. God gave us all the responsibility to preach the word. He gives the increase, not me. I speak; I've done my job. End of story.

    Such a bad boy I am! :(

Speaking in tongues is NOT a gift

What's that got to do with tongues?

Speaking in tongues is NOT a gift

I never asked anyone to believe anything.

Speaking in tongues is NOT a gift

So God was wrong about nobody knowing the secret before Paul? Daniel knew it way before Paul knew it? These ideas come from not understanding the different people to whom God spoke as well as when He spoke. Different people and different times. Do you read and answer your neighbor's mail? It is...

Speaking in tongues is NOT a gift

There were no born again Jews in the Gospels. If there were, why did Jesus bother to die? Apparently his death and resurrection was not necessary to get saved if folks could get saved before he died.

Speaking in tongues is NOT a gift

First of all, the word "churches" is the Greek word "ekklesia" which means an assembly of any sort. Acts contains a record where an unruly mob was called an ekklesia. Secondly, read the letters to the 7 assemblies and you may notice many things God said to Israel in the past, but the language...

Speaking in tongues is NOT a gift

You probably wont' like to hear this, but all I can say is you are mixing up times and peoples. Revelation is highly Jewish in character. Over and over again it refers to the OT. It is the fulfillment of the very physical kingdom God promised Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. It has nothing to do with...

Speaking in tongues is NOT a gift

We must keep in mind to whom God is talking. If what you say is true, given that every book in the NT tells the reader in some way or another to not sin, it must be understood that God only talked to sinners. Never said anything to born again folks. That's not right.

Speaking in tongues is NOT a gift

If you're right, Jesus died for no reason. If we could get eternal life before he died, his death was pointless. It's never good to build an entire doctrine on one verse.

Speaking in tongues is NOT a gift

All these verses are talking about Revelation, when Jesus establishes the physical kingdom that God promised Israel. We are living in an age that nobody knew anything about until God revealed it to Paul. Col 1:25-26, 25 Whereof I am made a minister, according to the dispensation of God which...

Speaking in tongues is NOT a gift

So now I'm afraid I do understand you claim you never sin. That is at variance with many verses, including 1 John 1:18. 1 John 1:8, If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. As you read that aloud, keep in mind that "we have" is present tense. It's not...

Speaking in tongues is NOT a gift

Jesus never said one word about the New Testament. Despite the big red letters that say "New Testament of our Lord" on an otherwise blank page in front of Matthew, the New Testament didn't begin until Pentecost. Nobody in the gospels was born again. The new birth was not available until...
