@amigo de christo Good point. I think also the army was finding its previous tattoo restrictions unrealistic, because so many potential male and female recruits would be tattooed.

We look back indeed, @Rita, in a deep, poignant and enduring way. There is also the grace of looking up and forward (Hebrews 12.2).

@Heart2Soul You're right that this is exactly what army recruitment was likely finding. For potential recruits, it's exactly what young men think to do when they turn 18: "Got to get your tattoo if you're a real man." Indeed, for potential female recruits, it's exactly what young women think...

@Heart2Soul I think it's really important for believers to keep 'looking unto Jesus' (Hebrews 12.2) rather than fall back into keeping looking unto antichrist, so to speak........

What happened at the Incarnation - most gloriously - was unique. John 1.14.

In Luke 23 the Lord Jesus says there shall be pestilences. The point is also to approach Scripture with the eye of faith.
