To the Curmudgeons posting and responding with sour grapes

You said: This was aid to some Jews prior to Jesus' death and resurrection. It is not universally applicable. If you are part of the New Covenant, then it is applicable to you and me.

That doesn't fit 2 Peter 1:5-9, because part of becoming born again of the Spirit is being cleansed of all sin. And verse 9 says that's happened. 5 But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, 6 to knowledge self-control, to self-control...

Maybe that's the problem. Not everyone in church is born again of the Spirit. No Spirit/No fruit. Do you know any scriptures to back that up?

To the Curmudgeons posting and responding with sour grapes

Hi Jim. Faith without works is dead. What is your definition of grace here? How does it apply? Also, the Sermon on the Mount is not to the Pharisees. Jesus did not teach the people the Old Covenant, except in correcting the Pharisees. Matthew 5-7 is teaching what the New Covenant will be like...

To the Curmudgeons posting and responding with sour grapes

I'm not worried about sin because my old sin nature has already been dealt with and I'm righteous, and I don't sin willfully sins unto death. But the church doesn't talk much about the importance of holiness and perfection, but Jesus did. Those have to do with the fruit of the Spirit, not the...

Did you know that verses 21-23 was about 19-20??? Let's stop all the nasty, sarcastic posts and responses and grow up! 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Therefore by their fruits you will know them. 21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord...

    The 10 Commandments are FOREVER

There was a time when I was like you. But when I was finally born again of the Spirit, I was shocked to realize I had not been saved for 30 years!

    The 10 Commandments are FOREVER

@David in NJ cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, That is pre-sanctification.

    The 10 Commandments are FOREVER

It really only took righteousness to be saved in the Old Testament. Jesus as the Author and Finisher of our faith produces that in us in the New Covenant when he writes the laws on our new born again nature after we repent and are cleansed of all unrighteousness. Seeing as the rich young ruler...

    The 10 Commandments are FOREVER

Did you read John 17? Wives back then were ignorant and illiterate. Husbands became born again first usually because they could understand. He is talking about bringing a wife to the Lord through knowledge of the Word.

    The 10 Commandments are FOREVER

John 17 mentions sanctification, but not as a continuing process. We are set apart, meaning we belong to Him. How many times do we BECOME born again? Have you never heard of glorification? Read John 17 again slowly.

    The 10 Commandments are FOREVER

You've spoken incorrectly. Being born again of the Spirit has everything to do with God's law because our new nature is where God writes His laws. It is not legal to break God's laws as you imply. Romans 3:31 31 Do we then make void the law through faith? Certainly not! On the contrary, we...

    The 10 Commandments are FOREVER

Yes, sinners need to be sanctified, but God doesn't need to continue setting us apart. We ARE set apart when He cleanses us of all unrighteousness called justification. If sanctification was a process why isn't it mentioned here with the rest? And look what IS mentioned. 29 For whom He...

    The 10 Commandments are FOREVER

Glorification. Conformed to the image of Christ. Romans 8:29-30 Note: sanctified is not there because as soon as we are justified, we are set apart.

Is the Sabbath a 'test of loyalty'?

Romans 7:5-6 5 For when we were in the flesh, the sinful passions which were aroused by the law were at work in our members to bear fruit to death. 6 But now we have been delivered from the law, having died to what we were held by, so that we should serve in the newness of the Spirit and not in...

Why is attributing the work of the Holy Spirit to Satan unforgivable??

My husband divorced me in 2002 to marry the wife of his best friend. He didn't have cause to divorce me, so even though he's married to her, I'm married to him. I haven't dated or even kissed someone since. I will stay alone. Isaiah 54:5

Why is attributing the work of the Holy Spirit to Satan unforgivable??

you're saying that someone of another religion can never become a Christian, because they've already blasphemed the Holy Spirit. That is not true.

Why is attributing the work of the Holy Spirit to Satan unforgivable??

Oh, you mean Romans 10:17. The context starts earlier. 14 How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? 15 And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is...

Why is attributing the work of the Holy Spirit to Satan unforgivable??

The Spirit is either on the outside of us DRAWING us to Christ through circumstances where we come in contact with those who can tell us about Christ (Romans 10:17), but once we repent we receive the gift of the Holy Spirit and He comes into our heart and mind to transform us into the image of...
