    Oddly OSAS

I don't think this addresses what I've said.

Yep. Yep. No, Jesus says the Spirit has been with the disciples, but will be in the disciples (Jn 14:17)--it is Jesus drawing the distinction, not me : Judas wasn't indwelt by the Spirit of Truth; rather, he was "a devil", and, as time went on, he was indwelt by satan (Jn 13:27). Where does...

Not just the OP, the thread.

I'd disagree, but I'd prefer you read the thread so I don't have to repeat myself.

Is it true thst those who are "of us" have the destiny to "remain with us"? John 7 39Now this he said about the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were to receive, for as yet the Spirit had not been given, because Jesus was not yet glorified. John 6 70Jesus answered them, “Did I Myself not...

Παράκλητος (Jn 16:7) and παρακλήσεως (Ro 15:4)

No disrespect--and i want to continue our discussion on a good note, bc it's helpful--but I just thought it was funny that you were trying to find common ground, but that being a child raised under a Muslim terrorist is not in the same world as living next to some Muslims... though i guess you...

Παράκλητος (Jn 16:7) and παρακλήσεως (Ro 15:4)

I really love the idea that the same goodness I experience from the Spirit is what I can expect from and look for in the Scriptures. I had looked for the longest time for the threat in the terms and conditions because I was always inspired/motivated by threats with my Muslim terrorist step...

Παράκλητος (Jn 16:7) and παρακλήσεως (Ro 15:4)

This discussion is good. While I was reading this, I remembered "faith hope and love remain", that God is all about love and hope. It gives some perspective. I grew up as a Muslim in part so this is completely different. It also helps explain and verify my experiences with God. Thank you.

Παράκλητος (Jn 16:7) and παρακλήσεως (Ro 15:4)

I actually bought Greek and Hebrew language grammars, but hadn't had peace, so hadn't made use of them ("What good is it to study these languages, to get fancy, know extreme specifics, when i have perfectly fine translations that should get me to understand and have peace? What if i die without...

Παράκλητος (Jn 16:7) and παρακλήσεως (Ro 15:4)

Did you keep in mind that the end would be "hope"? Other verses say hope is through proven character, so is the hope from something God will do or something we do or both?

    Oddly OSAS

Right, this thread addresses the issue--and I'd argue you, as a NOSAS, should still affirm God foreknew and predestined you and will keep you.

    Oddly OSAS

Asking about the principle "if they were of us they would've remained". What does that mean to you? John 7 says the Spirit hadn't been given until Christ's glorification. Judas was selected specifically to betray Jesus. He was "the son of perdition", and "a devil", and was, unlike the other...
  13. GracePeace

    Oddly OSAS

1a. So, you're NOSAS? 1b. Even NOSAS should trust they are foreknown, predestined, that they were with Christ from the beginning, that Christ won't lose them, etc, just like OSAS. You'll obtain grace, trust in God. 2. Right, what do you do with "if they were of us, they would've remained with...

Παράκλητος (Jn 16:7) and παρακλήσεως (Ro 15:4)

Yeah, it was Brown, speaking with another scholar, I believe, who said Strong's is fine for someone who is a layman, but isn't useful for scholars. It can be used to draw a circle, but it's not accurate enough to machine cylindrical engine parts.

    Oddly OSAS

If the name is not going to be read out of it, if Christ will not confess the name before God, because the man denied Christ, and is now being denied by Christ, there is effectively no difference. He's not in the Book of Life, he is unknown. I hold to OSAS. I thought you held to OSAS.
  16. GracePeace

    Oddly OSAS

You already know what I think of your views--I'm arguing against them--so what's the difference? Maybe you would've preferred if I'd included "in my view" or "what I consider" rather than just saying "your false arguments"? I can do that--makes no difference to me, but, if it makes a difference...

    Oddly OSAS

    Either way, I'm satisfied.

    Oddly OSAS

@marks Anyway, at the end of the day, I would prefer all Christianity agreed with, were discipled into, your view--even using the false arguments you use to get there--than to have all Christianity be more like the synergistic Orthodox and Catholic. Fortunately, those aren't the only two options.

Yes, with respect to this matter, my conscience is clear of seking to overthrow reality--I simply read and bow down to God's Word, I haven't "corrected" God.
