    Fundamentalism

I think that "shutting their hearts" is truly often done not to let "them" come near enough to "contaminate" the Holy ones.

    Fundamentalism

Wander into one of the older Churches of Christ (the ones known as "Anti's"..... because they are "against" just about everything.) They will come right out and openly declare that theirs is the ONLY church established by Christ in AD 33...… way before the Catholic church was even thought of.

    Fundamentalism

Pretty much. There seems to be a portion of Christianity that cannot get away from thinking that "trusting in Christ" actually means "having a fairly rigid and lengthy set of rules to adhere to." To many people it seems to have almost nothing to do with a heart for others, but more the outward...

Should Christians not participate in Halloween?

Then perhaps you should find out.

    Urgent warning about Donald Trump

This woman needs some serious professional help.

Should Christians not participate in Halloween?

QT, m'thinks you are approaching fanaticism. LOL

    Calvinism

I think we need to be careful of not confusing "working" with the maligned term, "WORKS." The Aramaic can be translated “push through the service of your life” or “work the work of your life.”

    Fundamentalism

IMO, that is correct. As Forrest Gump's mother said. "Stupid is, as Stupid does." It boils down to the perversion of Scripture through distorted individual interpretations. And this makes the whole thing tough.... because I firmly believe the verses of the Bible SHOULD be open to individual...

Should Christians not participate in Halloween?

It wasn't three hours of hanging on a cross that made Jesus worthy of the task of saving humanity, (both of the thieves there with Him did the same thing) but rather thirty-three years of living a human life in submission to God.

    Fundamentalism

NOW, you are finally catching on..... it has nothing to do with Denomination, but rather religious prejudices.

    Fundamentalism

Are you not aware of how quickly you would be shunned for your Tattoos in most Fundamentalist churches? To most of their narrow thinking, you have deliberately and openly violated God's law, flaunting your demonstration of disrespect.

    Fundamentalism

And, "Yes", there are many people who honestly believe, because of the verses about not trusting in riches, that "true" Christians have to keep themselves poor...…….. especially their preachers. (That is probably why they don't pay many of them a living wage.) LOL

    Bible Study According to Caldwell

Jacobus Arminius was actually all for John Calvin's beliefs when he (Arminius) first started out.
  14. Willie T

    Fundamentalism

Now see, believers in transubstantiation really DO think the elements are changed into the real thing.

    Calvinism

You reply without reading the other, possibly relative, things that are being discussed in a thread?
  16. Willie T

    Calvinism

I usually don't try to search out personal arguments with individuals. I try to make my questions acceptable enough to the subject at hand that anyone can give their opinion.
  17. Willie T

    Calvinism

I dunno. That sounds a bit like what I was told as a child in the Baptist church..... that in order to truly understand the King James English Translation, I would need to get someone to translate it for me. I will definitely agree that Calvin is difficult to read... and he often seems to write...
  18. Willie T

    Calvinism

Shouldn't it be perfectly applicable to read what John Calvin said he believed, and thus know what "Calvinists" also believe?
  19. Willie T

    Fundamentalism

Uh...… Declaring that Jesus said we have to hate our entire families in order to be a disciple of His is "Biblical." And some people would call that infallible. I call it mistaken interpretation.

    Calvinism

Seriously, I have tried to find The Institutes in MODERN English... and I can only find 'Book First.' Quam legere Latine est anima mea oblitus.
