Being "in control of your own destiny", could you save yourself if God had not previously decided to extend the offer of that path? So, just how much are we really in control if that which we accept depends solely upon another for it to happen? Jesus said "Into YOUR hands I commend my soul"...

I first got baptized simply out of the typically preached fear of needing Fire Insurance. It took some years, but I finally became a Christian after I saw how many of us need Jesus' love, instead.

It is rare (and good) to see someone write their absorbed understanding of God... rather than just quoting some isolated Scriptures an Ancient author wrote down. (I think a lot of us actually believe Jesus, Peter, and Paul really did read from the KJV... and spoke in "Thee's" and "Thou's.")
