The Race Question is a Godly Question

I do find it puzzling that the differences are so much more than merely "skin deep." Apart from the environmental or psychological differences, a forensic anthropologist can look at the bones of a dead body and tell you the ethnic background of the decedent.

    It left me thinking......

Actually, I don't think anyone "got whipped."

Why are the 7 Churches in Revelation each greeted differently...

Embarrassingly, it psychologically describes me. (I'm a little ashamed to tell you all it implies.) If I was so named, I'm afraid it just might fit: Your name of Simeramis gives you an independent, serious, reticent, and studious nature. An intellectual, you have a deep appreciation for art...

Why are the 7 Churches in Revelation each greeted differently...

"Yes", that is interesting, isn't it? I wonder if those meanings stood prior to the writing of Revelation, or if they developed over the years. Would congregations deliberately name themselves thus?

    It left me thinking......

Considering that we are told that He took some time to do this; He had to look around and gather the necessary materials, and then He sat down and took even more time to weave together a whip... I would say it was not an impulsive, spur of the moment endeavor.

    It left me thinking......

I simply meant that the little book "left me thinking" that there just might be a whole lot more in the Bible than just the "Standard Stuff" I was routinely taught by people who had been taught the same way. Not hidden mysteries, but just reading with both my eyes and mind open.

And go to verse 11 of that very first Chapter. There is also no mystery that John was clearly instructed as to exactly whom he was to send this letter.

Why are the 7 Churches in Revelation each greeted differently...

Try looking at the first phrase of verse 9. No mystery there, at all.

Why are the 7 Churches in Revelation each greeted differently...

There's something else in the 1st Chapter that is very telling. (9th Verse... and even the 10th.)

Why are the 7 Churches in Revelation each greeted differently...

(As far as "reading things into" the book...…) I'm curious.... Where is The Great Tribulation mentioned in Revelation? Or where is it even mentioned in the Bible? Would someone quote the verse or verses? (Please help me, I obviously need the instruction.)

I can very definitely agree with those two sentences.

I know. I watch as they read all sorts of wild things into that book of Revelation.

Why are the 7 Churches in Revelation each greeted differently...

I did say there were things in that letter to some ancient people that we can learn some lessons from...… but that letter was written to, addressed to, delivered to, and originally read by people who lived in a very different world almost 2,000 years ago. It was not a secret letter with a...

Why are the 7 Churches in Revelation each greeted differently...

I know we all desire to believe Revelation was written pretty specifically to those of us modern people living today. But, the truth we have to face (no matter how much we don't want to) is that it really was a letter of encouragement that was written to those congregations situated on what is...

    It left me thinking......

To me, "angry" means trying to prove ourselves "right" and the other person "wrong", as opposed to seeking a different way of seeing something in the hopes of discovering something useful.

PM me someplace to send them. (Even if you previously sent me an address, I seldom ever save any earlier e-mails)

Why are the 7 Churches in Revelation each greeted differently...

I think they are some examples of these and also MANY other things congregations can fall victim to.... NOT specifically only the seven types of churches that exist. A copy of the very same letter (that's what Revelation was, a single letter) was delivered to each of the churches that all...

If you are serious about studying Revelation, be sure to read Before Jerusalem Fell, Paradise Restored, and Days of Vengeance. (Yes, of course, I have all three on my computer in MS Word format, and can e-mail them if requested to.)

Why are the 7 Churches in Revelation each greeted differently...

I am actually being a little serious. We have a tendency to get a bit too literal with the book of Revelation. And that can (and often does) lead to imagining an entire fantasy crystal-ball world that I don't think was ever intended.

I love the projection of the characteristics of these churches forward to the problems with today's churches. Thankfully there can only be seven things wrong with churches, instead of maybe eight or ten, or more...….. because poor old John only had seven churches he wrote to.
