@1stCenturyLady You might want to get a second or third opinion from 2 or 3 tattoo artists, if a short quote / ref. from that passage would in fact be feasible. Everyone is different; but from what you say it sounds like it would be an experience you would kind of like and enjoy doing.

@TLHKAJ I really love that passage in Isaiah 55! The end of 1 Peter 1 is quite similar, quoting as it does from Isaiah 40.

I guess the comment could be similar for those who consider the first step to starting smoking, as well; often it's been planned for a long time. What they don't always realize is that it can be harder to quit than it is to start, anyway.....

@TLHKAJ What a contrast then with all the men who these days like to get their heads shaved! For some ppl, the warm weather is a factor, anyway.

@Eternally Grateful The desire to do it can be Gospel-based in its motivation. All the young ppl with Bible verses tattooed with whom I have talked seem to have had them done as witness tools; it's hard not to respect their motivation.

Dispensationally speaking, it's the Gospel that is the rule of the believer's life now, rather than the law, IMHO....

@Eternally Grateful Paul speaks of 'obedience to the faith' and 'the obedience of faith' at the beginning and at the end of Romans. Law-keeping is something entirely different; reliance on law-keeping shows bondage.

Hi @lilygrace A good way to learn another language is to read a familiar Bible passage in the language being learned, such as one with simple and clear words - John chapter 1 comes to mind; and it's amazing how quickly one can absorb it.......
