The whole of Paul's Epistles to Timothy show both how important the Scripture teaching role is but also how it's Timothy's personal testimony that is vitally important also.

Paul made it clear in Acts 20 when he left Ephesus that it would be the local Ephesian elders who from then onwards would be responsible for feeding the flock of God.

The Lord makes it clear from Philippians 2 that 'it is God that worketh in you both to will and to do of His good pleasure'.

The point is that God's grace keeps the true believer. Human effort or merit does not save.

It would seem this is why he would have had the ink pumped in.

@Taken He loved sinners, and was separate from them (Hebrews 7.26).

Philippians 1.6 says: "He which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ".
