Good Works Vs Works Of The Law

It's not up to me to help you understand why or how only to show that Scripture indicates "works of Law" includes "do not covet".

Good Works Vs Works Of The Law

"Works of the Law" apparently includes "do not covet" Romans 3:20 and Romans 7:7.

Jesus is firstborn among many brethren, firstborn from among the dead, "You are My Son, today I have begotten You." How could people be born again yet not have their sins removed? To be born again means you are In Christ not In Adam and you have been rescued from the bondage to sin. 1) How could...

Good Works Vs Works Of The Law

LOL! I know, but I thought the implication was unavoidable if I wanted to try to push you to continue the convo.

Good Works Vs Works Of The Law

All right, will wait for discussion on Romans 3:20 and Romans 7:7 to resume.

Good Works Vs Works Of The Law

@Hidden In Him Sorry, that talk turned out to be a dud in my opinion. I went and looked at another presentation of his and it was much worse--extremely tedious and I couldn't stop falling asleep.

Good Works Vs Works Of The Law

@Hidden In Him Perfect timing for this treat to be published!

My point was that they did not partake of the benefits of the New Covenant until it was made available--and it wasn't available at that time.

    Bible alone

All men of faith--starting at least with Abel Hebrews 11:4, then all the way through history--were "just" but were not "perfect" because they DID NOT partake of the benefits made available through the New Covenant until Christ inaugurated it.

Did I say anything contrary to that?

I was talking about "initial justification". I already affirm a coming judgment of works.

    Bible alone

Even the 12 Apostles didn't understand or believe in a dying and resurrecting Christ, which is the Gospel, so none of them believed what God had kept secret Romans 16 says together with Galatians 3 (until the faith came). Faith in Jesus at that time did not place people "in Christ". "Christ" had...

New Covenant Justification is a perfect justification, pre-New Covenant justification was an imperfect justification (blood of animals could not remove sins).

@thee Infant-Baptized Catholic--my understanding of Christianity was influenced by Catholicism. ;) lol

    Bible alone

Have you already forgotten that I reject "faith alone" (based on Romans 2:6-16, Galatians 6:6-10 for instance)?

    Bible alone

I don't read that as Jesus affirming he is born again but that Nicodemus must be born again because he's wondering how he can enter God's Kingdom--he knows Who to ask. Again, that's not taught anywhere else in Scripture (you get regenerated first, then you're able to believe) as I believe had...

    Bible alone

I see where you'd want to say this, but doesn't Scripture prohibit it? Hebrews 11:40 and Hebrews 12:23 say the blood didn't get applied until the time the New Covenant was put in place. Galatians 3 concurs that those under Law did not have the faith that put them "in Christ". Something to think...
  18. GracePeace

    Bible alone

You didn't address the fact that Nicodemus wasn't being told "You understand only because you're born again" lol and how it isn't what's taught anywhere.
  19. GracePeace

    Bible alone

    1. So, you believe people whose sins had not been removed by the blood of Jesus (New Covenant) and who were not baptized into Christ were sons of God? 1 John says "God gave His Son that we might live through Him"--before His Son was given, no one lived through Him. As it says, again, the men of...

    Murder In The Heart?

I wonder about it too. Clearly, Jesus is teaching we're worthy of God's wrath for such despicable things, but... are they really equal, or isn't Jesus just saying "Don't think so highly of yourselves just because other humans haven't seen you do the deed--don't measure yourselves by yourselves...
