@L3astAm0ngManyB13ss3d FYI....thread started...(sorry the poll expired)... Sometimes the subject can be a bit moot if it hasn't reached one's household, but a lot of Christian young ppl seem to get Bible verse tattoos as witness tools, anyway.

Paul himself in 1 Timothy 3.16 says, 'Great is the mystery of Godliness', and goes on to say, 'God was manifested in the flesh'.

He is truly human - yet without sin - and truly God. The mystery of the Incarnation, the Word Who became flesh (John 1.14).

@Lambano What I meant was, in Philippians 2, Paul says BOTH that He 'thought it not robbery to be equal with God' AND that He 'made Himself of no reputation, and took upon Him the form of a servant' etc.

@Lambano Point taken about the fine distinction. Seems like some young men would just appreciate their mom's support to have the confidence to do it. I guess your wife would afterwards have been pleased for him that he did it (even though like you say she didn't actually up front encourage him).

I think the idea is, voluntary subjection and obedience to the Father's will, even while He is equal with God. Philippians 2 shows both these aspects about the Lord Jesus.

@Lambano I think a lot of moms today like the idea of, or encourage, their sons to have their ears pierced. Seems like your wife would have been pleased he had the confidence to have them done.

@L3astAm0ngManyB13ss3d You are right about smooth talkers. We are looking at James's Epistle and there is a lot of warning about unsound words there.

@Lambano The Lord Jesus is indeed omniscient and Hebrews 9.14 says He 'by the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God'.

Sometimes the behaviour of a cult may seem more passive, but if the basic doctrine about the Lord Jesus is unsound, then it is a misleading, cultist group.
