@GodsGrace I think John 1.14 - 'the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us' and which speaks of 'His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth' - is a very clear testimony to both the Lord Jesus' humanity and deity.

So in practical terms the English does supposedly "correct" the Hebrew and Greek..... I do actually appreciate the King James very much and the Received Text, but I would never want to imply that the English overrules the originals.

Even if you decline to look at the commentary I referred to, the original to which I was referring was the Hebrew in Psalm 12, not the Greek of the New Testament. (I agree with some of your misgivings with aspects of the Nestle-Aland) but I was referring to the original in the Hebrew about...

@Bible Highlighter Incidentally in Psalm 40. 'mine ears hast Thou opened' says in the original: 'digged', i.e., pierced, which links with the bondservant in Exodus 21 and seems to point forward to the Perfect Servant, Who was obedient unto death.

The link I supplied from Matthew Henry's commentary comes from a source that is a few centuries old (he was born in the 17th century). He understands the original to be referred to the preserved people of God in verse 7.

In the passage quoted, the context suggests that it is the people mentioned in the preceding passage that are preserved. I do believe in the principle of the preservation of the Scriptures.
