    The doctrine of least resistance

Now the religious men of old set down a standard of the law that was easy enough to follow...to not break commands overtly or outwardly. So a man could hate his brother but still be "lawful" by just not killing him outright. A man could lust after a woman...but if he could not get her....then he...

    The doctrine of least resistance

I'm speaking of the delusions that are taught in modern churches. Man-made things can't come from God...that's why they are called man-made! Do you follow? What passes for grace these days is not God's grace. For more clarity re-read my previous post.

    Should I be rebaptised?

You are making a case using the bible to support your church. A backwards and illogical stance. Writing in big letters and different colours appears amusing to you? I find you are not making any case here at all except to be partisan. Anybody can do that...for anything. Anybody can justify...

The Book of James, an opinion

OK...so then you agree with the book of James. H. Richard believes in justification of oneself through beliefs. That is precisely what James is against. Did Abraham justify himself by his beliefs? No. God did. So then no one can claim to be justified by anything they have believed. So then...

    The doctrine of least resistance

Actually it is the lack of seeing God's grace as the gift of relationship with Jesus so as to walk just as He walked. Any other definition is not grace from God. It could be a man-made or man-sanctioned grace. But God's grace is His strength empowering our weakness.

The Book of James, an opinion

That's not what I'm saying. From God's POV an opinion is not a good thing. Human reasoning was rebuked by Jesus when practiced by His followers. So then from a human standpoint an opinion is fair and justified. But are we to advance in Christ by taking on human opinions? The irony is that we...

    Should I be rebaptised?

You don't know me....you argue like a person boxing the air. Authority is according to function...not as the world. There are no titles in the real church of Christ. Man-made organizations resemble other man-made organizations. Maybe you didn't read my post where I included pastor in the list of...

    Deception

Isn't the popularity of a teaching the final arbiter of truth?

The Book of James, an opinion

People don't like being challenged on the veracity of their beliefs. That's the way it is with beliefs. If a person believes the earth is flat...then ANY idea that the world may be round challenges that belief. If we take that same tendency to the bible we see that doctrines of least...

    Should I be rebaptised?

And you are misinterpreting it...which is why it is so. In your partisan blindness you aren't seeing the aberrations of your own sect. Why all the fancy robes and pointy hats? That sort of thing is what Jesus was talking about as things to avoid. The fact that you defend aberrations makes you...

The Book of James, an opinion

Abraham was justified by believing God. But it was God that justified him...not himself. You aren't seeing the huge difference between the two. A human belief can easily become an "overvalued idea." It leads to delusional thinking as in the OP. An overvalued idea is a false or exaggerated and...

The Book of James, an opinion

No, your beliefs. Do you justify yourself because of your beliefs? Do you know what idee fixe means?

    Should I be rebaptised?

Jesus said to call no man father. Not that there were no fathers. Not that there were no spiritual fathers. Jesus was speaking of titles like father, rabbi, pastor, bishop... Mat. 23:9 And do not call anyone on earth your father, for you have one Father, who is in heaven. 10 Neither be ye...

    Friends of This Site

So is positivism...;) The truth is not just about happy faces. There are as many woes as blessings. So then balance is better. When someone posts what is good...we rejoice. When someone posts a lie that can hurt people...we correct. If that comes out sounding negative...then there is a deeper...

The Book of James, an opinion

The common mistake is to compare our judgment with God's. God knows who will obey Him in advance. We don't. God knows those who will be faithful till the end. We don't. God knows those who will betray or forsake Him. We don't. God justified Abraham for his faith...knowing he would also do what...

The Book of James, an opinion

The book of James is a practical application to the gospel. Jews tend to be very practical...whereas Gentiles more philosophical. So the tension is between a philosophical view and a practical view. But the truth is still the truth. The book of James is there for people to become aware whether...

Chris & Mike - Whose Side Are You On?

Besides the Hebrew I felt invited by the Lord to celebrate Passover. We are doing a seder next week. We have been doing so the past few decades...being invited to introduce it in various churches...as well as our own fellowship. Paul says concerning Passover... 1 Cor. 5:8 Therefore let us...

    The doctrine of least resistance

Yes...prepared in advance to fail. The devil knows...once we have been spoiled with a higher inflated estimation of our place in the scheme of things....it is harder for that person, more so than for a new beginner, to go back and start again. How many times have I seen a person who was once in...

    The doctrine of least resistance

There is an easy deviation to every aspect of the Christian walk. Like forks in the road that take us nearer or farther from the presence of God. Some of us have accepted many of these deviations...and some of us a few. But all in all...we all have accepted these deviations at some time or...
