The Doctrine of Purgatory in Catholic Biblical Perspective

Hi David, Let me see if I got this right so I better understand what you are saying. YOU (singular) are able to define what the men (plural) of The Catholic Church got wrong? Curious Mary

Should the books of the bible been more like 77?

Please answer my questions and I will answer yours: You have no opinions and assumptions? They were not listening to the Holy Spirit? You alluded that you "doubt" that they were listening to the Holy Spirit. If they were alive today they would doubt you are listening sooooo where does that...

Should the books of the bible been more like 77?

Hi, What happens when you come across something in Scripture that seems to contradict and you look at the context of each verse (or even the whole book) and your heart and spirit set you to desire God's meaning and you let go of falsehoods...... but your interpretation of that passage of...

OK...I don't see an answer to my question but I digress.

Should the books of the bible been more like 77?

Thru historical writings it is said that Clement of Rome, who wrote about the Phoenix in one of his letters, was a student of Peter and Paul. His letters were in FACT from the 1st century. The experts believe The Epistle of Barnabas to have been written anywhere from 80-130AD and was more...

Should the books of the bible been more like 77?

Sounds like you do not believe the men of The Church were guided by the Holy Spirit and were too worldly when they decided on the 27 books that all Christians consider God breathed. That is a fascinating and un-provable theory.

    Am I wrong

Hi Nancy, It is true that there were false teachers of false doctrine that entered the Church shortly after the death of Christ. If you can explain to me how the men of the 1st century Church, the ones who walked and talked with the Apostles, were wrong in their doctrine then I will join you...

    Am I wrong

Hi shnarkle, How is it so obvious? Using your theory the men of 21st century who disagree with the men of the 16th century would know considerably more. And the men of the 22nd century will know considerably more then anyone in history. Can you see how your theory is not logical? Mary

    Am I wrong

Hi Ezra, My lack of what shows???? It is an incomplete sentence... What I stated was a fact. The thief could have been baptized PRIOR to being hung on the cross alongside Jesus. Scripture does not tell us if he was or not. If you have evidence from Scripture that shows otherwise, please...

    Am I wrong

Wow....you have studied Scripture and my theory, which has been taught/practiced for 2,000 years doesn't hold water??? Soooo Christians have been wrong for 2,000 years but your Anabaptist belief that has been around for 500 years is right???? o_O Christ was baptized because he led by example...

Should the books of the bible been more like 77?

Once again....FASCINATING!! You don't like Origins doctrines sooooo you disregard EVERYTHING he wrote? The letter in which Clement talks about the phoenix is often slighted but in Clement's day the Phoenix was a believable story. Personally, I cannot blame him for accepting the "science" of...

Should the books of the bible been more like 77?

Fascinating.....Soooo who gets to decide who is "filled with the Spirit"?

Should the books of the bible been more like 77?

The Church obviously disagrees with you since they said it's not canonical. Either you believe the men of The Church were inspired by the Holy Spirit to get the 27 right or you don't believe they were inspired. The onerous is on you to explain why they didn't get this one right and they didn't...

    Am I wrong

Well, yes, it does matter why they don't agree. If she didn't receive a Trinitarian baptism then she wasn't properly baptized sooooo it does matter because only one can be right.

    Am I wrong

Sooooo even though the Westboro Baptist church teaches that God hates gay people, Jews, soldiers etc. you still believe they are a legitimate representation of the teachings of Christ?

Should the books of the bible been more like 77?

The manner in which Clement of Alexandria and Origen refer to the letter gives confirmation to the belief that even in Alexandria the Epistle of Barnabas was not regarded by every one as an inspired writing. Do you trust the theory Clement and Origin, who lived during that time, over your theory?

Should the books of the bible been more like 77?

The earliest some experts date it is 80-120 AD. Some date it in the early 2nd Century. Up to the fourth century only the Alexandrian were acquainted with it, and in their Church the epistle attained to the honor of being publicly read. It was not read widely throughout Christianity which is...
