Does God expect us to obey the hundreds of NT commands on day one of our service to be saved?

In regards to the prodigal son, being made "alive again" foreshadows the "born again" experience that Jesus spoke of in John 3:3. Of course Jesus wasn't talking about being born again spiritually again and again. We are born once physically and born "again" once spiritually. People in the NOSAS...

Does God expect us to obey the hundreds of NT commands on day one of our service to be saved?

Actually, you have a different Mailman Dan here. I was not a member of Christian Forums in 2005 and did not join my first Christian forum (Bible Forums) until 2010-2011. My avatar name on most Christian forums is mailmandan and not Mailman Dan. Sorry to disappoint you. I know you must have been...

Does God expect us to obey the hundreds of NT commands on day one of our service to be saved?

Apparently, you preach sinless perfection and 1 John 1:8 is in the present tense, so those who claim to believe they live a sinless, without fault of defect, flawless, absolute perfect life 100% of the time (exactly as Jesus lived) deceive themselves and the truth is not in them and they are...

OSAS is now teaching faith with works, and not faith alone.

Amen! I call that "type 2 works salvation" and its absolutely NOT true.. From beginning "have been saved through faith" (Ephesians 2:8) to end "receiving the end of your faith--the salvation of your souls" (1 Peter 1:9) salvation is by grace through faith and is not by works.

Does God expect us to obey the hundreds of NT commands on day one of our service to be saved?

Well said! There are genuine Christians and there are "nominal/pseudo" Christians. There are genuine believers and there are make believers. The apostle Paul warned us about savage wolves. Acts 20:28 - Therefore take heed to yourselves and to all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made...

Does God expect us to obey the hundreds of NT commands on day one of our service to be saved?

So works can be done "out of" love but not "out of" faith? It sounds to me like you despise Protestantism and you paint Protestants with a broad brush of promoting a license for immorality through your biased interpretation of Jude 1:4. That's a harsh, unfair judgment call. Jude 1:4 is not...

Does God expect us to obey the hundreds of NT commands on day one of our service to be saved?

Sadly, this is very true. I've been a member of multiple Christian forum sites for over 10 years now and running into legalists is not uncommon. Many of these people are 'spiritual narcissists' and instead of promoting Christ, such people exploit Christ in order to promote themselves. :(

Does God expect us to obey the hundreds of NT commands on day one of our service to be saved?

You should have been more clear by what you meant in post #146. You did not underline or bold the word "saved" and make the point that the specific word "saved" is not found in verse 10. Instead, you simply quoted Ephesians 2:10 with the word "unto" instead of "for." My main point is that we are...

Does God expect us to obey the hundreds of NT commands on day one of our service to be saved?

It's you who continues to altar the Bible by teaching "back door" works salvation. If something is accomplished "by" faith then it is accomplished "out of" faith. You turn "by" faith into "is" faith so that you can turn salvation by faith into salvation by works (at least through the back door)...

    The One Baptism

Ephesians 4:5 - There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; 5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism. 1 Corinthians 12:13 - For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free—and have all been made to drink...

Does God expect us to obey the hundreds of NT commands on day one of our service to be saved?

I hear your "type 2 works salvation" plan loud and clear. You have clearly stated that faith merely initially saves us multiple times then after that works save us. Got it. Whether you teach front door or back door works salvation or both you are still preaching a "works based" false gospel...

Does God expect us to obey the hundreds of NT commands on day one of our service to be saved?

Ephesians 2:10 does say that we are saved "for" or "unto" good works. *Multiple translations clearly say for good works.* Ephesians 2:10 - For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works.. (ASV) Ephesians 2:10 - For we are His creation-created in Christ Jesus for good...

Does God expect us to obey the hundreds of NT commands on day one of our service to be saved?

I believe that Christ saves us through faith based on the merits of His finished work of redemption alone and not based on the merits of our works. (Romans 3:24-28; 4:5-6; 5:1-2) I never said it does not matter how I live and works do not matter. That is a straw man argument and it also...

Does God expect us to obey the hundreds of NT commands on day one of our service to be saved?

We are saved FOR good works and NOT BY good works. (Ephesians 2:8-10) I don't deny the proper interpretation of these verses above. I only deny your 'eisegesis.' Yes, the list of your 'misinterpreted' verses does go on and on. You see that a man is justified (shown to be righteous) by works...

Does God expect us to obey the hundreds of NT commands on day one of our service to be saved?

It's not a false claim that you believe we are merely "initially" saved through faith then after that we are ultimately saved by personal holiness/self performance/works/type 2 works salvation. Your belief system is different in style from the Church of Christ and the Catholic Church but in the...

OSAS is now teaching faith with works, and not faith alone.

2 Corinthians 4:3 - But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: 4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

Does God expect us to obey the hundreds of NT commands on day one of our service to be saved?

Difference in style, but same in substance - "works based false gospel" - just as I pointed out in post #112. I did not find 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 in that article yet the article claims: The Gospel – All of It Those who hang out in Protestant circles probably have a quick, easy description of...

Grace or works of the law?

Amen! Faith in Jesus Christ "implied in genuine repentance" (rather than water baptism) brings the remission of sins and the gift of the Holy Spirit. (Luke 24:47; Acts 3:19; 5:31; 10:43-47; 11:17,18; 15:7-9; 16:31; 26:18) *Perfect Harmony*
