A good question Mark. I think 'glory' in the context Jesus uses it is the unpacking of God's character, ie, willing condescension even to the point of death. Verse 28 reveals this.

As I see it, the whole Jesus exercise, if we can call it that, is to show first hand, without an intermediary the character of God, ie, how he is wired at his core. His condescension and humiliation, reveals this. His whole journey among us from his conception through to Gethsemane and Calvary...
