    Your Thoughts: 1 Thessalonians 1:2-4

As far as chosen is concerned, I would suggest we are all chosen. Jesus has died for every man, thus has elected all men to be saved, and in that sense, has saved the whole world. KJV 2 Corinthians 5:14-15 14 For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for...

Colossians 2:14-16 - The Law That Was Against Us

"Man cannot live by bread only, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God doth man live". "Man cannot live by bread only, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God doth man live".

Colossians 2:14-16 - The Law That Was Against Us

Replace the word "power' with the word "authority' because that would be a more appropriate word in context with Christ being the Lawgiver. And I agree with your premise above. I would ask you though, seeing as how you reject the fourth commandment , how is that not a rejection of the authority...

Colossians 2:14-16 - The Law That Was Against Us

Yet is not the law a reflection of the character of God? Is that not the character we are called to? A character of righteousness? Or perhaps we are talking about different laws here.

Colossians 2:14-16 - The Law That Was Against Us

Playing God is pride. There are some here who could do very well if they paid heed to Mrs White's counsel. Advancement in Christian experience is characterized by increasing humility, as the result of increasing knowledge. Everyone who is united to Christ will depart from all iniquity. I tell...

Colossians 2:14-16 - The Law That Was Against Us

For those of you (and there are many) who have it set in their minds that Seventh Day Adventists are legalists, working their way into heaven, etc etc, which bigoted mindset among you has turned you into a cult, here is a quote concluding the church's Sabbath School lesson for this week. We are...

Colossians 2:14-16 - The Law That Was Against Us

@Marymog Catholics are desirous for spiritual food and Godly approval, thus need to know from whence such things come. Jesus also was hungry for the same, which is why He went into the wilderness fasting. The devil comes to Catholics with the same temptation he offered his Creator...make this...

Colossians 2:14-16 - The Law That Was Against Us

That's a very good point...which makes our own attitude to the law even more inexplicable considering we are supposed to be created in His image.

Colossians 2:14-16 - The Law That Was Against Us

Yes, amazing isn't it, that God can announce His commandments with pomp, fanfare of trumpets, lightening, thunder, a voice that shook he earth and caused fear and panic in millions of people, yet all of a sudden all of that is undone, quashed, done away with without a whimper. Almost as if God...

Colossians 2:14-16 - The Law That Was Against Us

Two points, which make the rest of your post above invalid. Frist, the early church did continue to observe the 7th day Sabbath. Acts 20:7 and 1 Corinthians 16:2 were not sacred Sunday meetings. The Acts one was what we would now call Saturday night. It was but a continuation of the Sabbath...

    Church... Church/state... State.

I believe the United States was providentially raised and established by God. But not for the benefit of the state, but for the sake of the church to give the church room to breathe and expand without the constrictive policies of the centuries old union of church and state in Europe. A...

If you want to stop sinning.

Then I'm probably the only Christian who would dare suggest such a thing. I've certainly never heard anyone suggest that in all my 45 years of Christian faith.

Colossians 2:14-16 - The Law That Was Against Us

@Marymog Hi Mary. The authority of scripture in comparison to the authority of the church or individuals who read the scripture and come to a certain or uncertain understanding is a popular topic with you huh, and certainly is a point of contention between Catholic and Protestant hermeneutics...

If you want to stop sinning.

Can't argue with that. God's promises do not rely on other men (other than ourselves) to cooperate...although He does want His people certainly to be cooperating together as Hidden says, in the gifts of the Spirit... but certainly can and does operate one on one with His people. I have found...

If you want to stop sinning.

Amen. As we walk in the Spirit, we find those 'triggers' aren't triggers any more...they're firing blanks to which we don't respond.

If you want to stop sinning.

Really though? Why is it then that Christians react so negatively when asked to consider God's commandments? After all, John says, "sin is transgression against the law". The response is varied, from "the law no longer applies...we are not under the law" to "You can't earn your way to heaven"...

Colossians 2:14-16 - The Law That Was Against Us

Why do you need a Commandment to please God? The gentiles in Acts actually asked Paul to meet with them on Sabbath. What is it about the Sabbath that so offends you? Again, why do you need one? Isn't Exodus 20 sufficient? How many times does God need to ask you to do something before you say...

    The experimental needles don't work

Population 2,000,000. Deaths from covid, 3,000. That's 0.15%. that isn't any worse than any other city in the world. Even assuming their figures are correct, 3000 as a percentage of cases is still less than 2%. I dunt know about herd immunity, but I would suggest many individuals are immune...

Colossians 2:14-16 - The Law That Was Against Us

Man's attempts to work for his salvation finds its genesis in satan's counterfeit offerings in paganism.
