    Once Saved Always Saved

Amen! These many people in Matthew 7:22 had the wrong foundation. They were trusting in their works to save them and NOT IN CHRIST ALONE. Jesus NEVER knew them which means they were NEVER saved. Their hearts were not right with God, so their "attempted external obedience" (apart from the...

    Once Saved Always Saved

Our good deeds indicate or demonstrate that we have the righteousness which is by faith was my point. Faith is the root of salvation and good deeds are the fruit, by product and demonstrative evidence of the righteousness of faith. We show our faith by our works. (James 2:18)

God Destroys Righteous Ones Who Fail to Endure and Shrink Back

In verse 39, the writer of Hebrews sets up the CONTRAST that makes it clear to me he was referring to unbelievers, not saved people who drew back to perdition: But WE are not OF THOSE who draw back to perdition, but OF THOSE who believe to the saving of the soul. Those who draw back to perdition...

If you still don’t understand then I can’t help you any further.

    Once Saved Always Saved

I never said anything about eternal life being earned by works.

There is no ‘oops’ here and we must not confuse ‘descriptive’ passages of scripture with ‘prescriptive’ passages of scripture. If one reads Romans 2:6-10 in isolation from the rest of the book of Romans, one might conclude that Paul was teaching salvation by works. However, as we read and study...

Maybe it’s just all in the semantics then. ;)

    Once Saved Always Saved

Putting the words of Jesus into practice is descriptive of believers and we must not confuse ‘descriptive’ passages of scripture with ‘prescriptive’ passages of scripture. Be careful that you don’t cross the line into salvation by works.

    Once Saved Always Saved

If that's true then why didn't Jesus mention a lot more in John 6:40? Jesus here is calling out hypocrites. For it is God’s will that you should be holy: You must abstain from sexual immorality; each of you must know how to control his own body in holiness and honor, 5not in lustful passion...

    The Devil's work

Have you considered "living water"? In John 4:10, 14; and 7:37-39 we read - "He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water. But this He spoke concerning the Spirit. Did you see that? The Holy Spirit is the source of living water and spiritual...

    The Devil's work

Matthew 7:21 - Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. What is God's will for us in order to receive eternal life? John 6:40 - For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him...

Forgiveness is to those who keep the commandments of the Lord.

Also, what do people believe it means to "keep" His commandments? Sinless perfect obedience to all of His commandments? Try our best to obey His commandments? Make an effort to obey His commandments? The Greek word for "keep" is "tereo" - Definition: to watch over, to guard. Strong's Greek...

    Faith is not enough

That's exactly what he is saying. Either we believe that Christ is an ALL-sufficient Savior or else we believe that He is an IN-sufficient Savior. Those who have placed their faith in Jesus Christ alone for salvation believe that He is an ALL-sufficient Savior. Those who believe that we are...

    Faith is not enough

People who believe that faith is not enough are basically saying that Christ is not enough because He is the object of our faith in receiving eternal life. Christ's finished work of redemption is sufficient and complete to save believers. No supplements needed. (Romans 3:24-28)

    Once Saved Always Saved

These were "nominal" Christians/make believers. Jesus never knew them which means they were never saved. These many people were obviously trusting in their works for salvation and not in Christ alone. Matthew 7:21 - Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven...

Exactly! There are genuine Christians and there are "nominal" Christians. There are genuine believers and there are make believers.

    OSAS Again

I never said I disagreed with Genesis 19:24.

    OSAS Again

Why do you keep asking me these questions? I believe what God's word says about the flood and about Sodom and Gomorrah.

    OSAS Again

I said that I believe ONLY Noah and his family were brought safely through the flood waters in the ark (which was 8 people) while EVERYONE ELSE drowned and perished in the flood waters.
