I've been associated with Pentecostalism for over 50 years, and I have seen no evidence of what you are suggesting. All I have seen is the use of tongues as just one way of worshiping and praying to God. And how could it be a sideshow in a meeting where all are of the same mind, worshiping...

When you have to put down another member for having views that you don't agree with, it makes your position unconvincing. I have heard all the opposing comments about tongues over the last 50 odd years, and have given due consideration to them, and have carefully examined the Scriptures to see...

We need to be careful to read stuff into Luke's report that he did not say.

Quite right. But Luke never said that Peter preached to the crowd in tongues. He recorded that Peter explained to the crowd in plain common language about what was happening and that the disciples weren't drunk because it was too early in the day.

What! Peter preached to the crowd in tongues???? Oh, come on! You must be scraping the bottom of the barrel for answers if you are trying that on. The group speaking in tongues were not preaching to anyone. They were speaking of the mighty acts of God. Peter preached to them in straight...

When Peter preached to the crowd on the Day of Pentecost, he certainly announced the fulfillment of Joel 2:28-29. There is no doubt about that. But I cannot see how the rest of the chapter is fulfilled in this day. You might have to provide evidence to show why you believe that.

Well, the Pope reckons we all worship the same God. I reckon that his hidden motive is that all roads must eventually lead to Rome! :) I can't say for sure that the staff at ChristianForums.com are taking the attitude that Muslims worship the same God as we do, but they have a rule prohibiting...

What I observed before I was permanently banned was that the admins became more supportive of Evolution and the RCC (where my comments attracted the most flak from the staff), and were appeasing Muslims as part of the "community of faith" and I guess that anyone commenting that Islam is a false...

Strange that over 53 years of being either a member of Pentecostal churches or associating with close friends who are, I have never seen any people barking like dogs or anything like it. What I have seen, however, that if anyone started manifesting weird stuff, they were taken out of the...

What we didn't see in those meetings were the ushers quietly taking the ones manifesting demons out of the meeting. Those taking the videos might not have wanted to show that because it might undermine their case.

A good idea would be to mention the pagan practices that are evident in his church!

Which pagan practices do you think she is sticking up for? I have had a long association with her on this form and previously on another forum, and I never viewed any of that in her many posts.

By the way, did you notice when you were with ChristianForums.com that in recent years, the healing, prophecy, and deliverance forums disappeared, and a new rule made prohibiting prophecy, and at the same time, more prominence was given to supporting Evolution, the RCC, and pro-Muslim posts, and...

These fellows don't want to read my post where I said that when the Holy Spirit is present in power, demons can't stand it and start manifesting. That's where you get the jerking, shaking, uncontrollable laughter, and animal noises from. There is ample testimony from those experienced in the...

I think that you are mistaken if you think the leaders of that church were supporting the manifestation as part of normal worship rather than the manifestation of demons under the power of the Holy Spirit. From what I read from the Book of Acts, the signs and wonders were to support the...

Usually, when the Holy Spirit is active in a meeting, demons start manifesting. From what I know, the Toronto meetings had ushers standing by to remove anyone who manifested in that way. Yes, people did make animal noises as the demons manifested through them, but you omit that the ushers...

    Thou Shall Not Covet?

The bottom line is that jealousy and envy are works of the flesh as described in Galatians 5, and the Scripture clearly says that those who envy and have jealousy will not inherit the kingdom of God. Paul says this as a warning and an instruction that we who live in the Spirit, should walk in...

You haven't answered the question of Paul saying, "I thank God I speak in tongues more than you all", and "I would that you all speak in tongues". If the speaking of tongues is confined to church meetings, and Paul instructs not to speak out loud in tongues during church meetings, wouldn't he...

Remember it was the Feast of Pentecost, a holy time for Jews. Gentiles would have been as popular as pork chops in Jerusalem. "Devout Jews" were those totally steeped in Judaism, and therefore the crowd were composed of Jewish pilgrims who had journeyed to Jerusalem for the Feast. When Paul...
