I had to give up popcorn. Too much salt raising my blood pressure!

Poll: Tattoo art - Christian perspectives: Fight it? Ignore it? appreciate/embrace it?

I would have had a problem if my daughter had demonic images in her tattoo! Thank the Lord that she hasn't.

Is holiness actually attainable in this life? Can a man cease from all sin?

Yep! It is called walking in the Spirit, or walking in the light as Jesus is in the light.

I had a good chuckle over that one!

Is holiness actually attainable in this life? Can a man cease from all sin?

I can't remember whether I have made comment to this thread before. Forgive me if I am repeating myself. :-) The way I see it is that when Jesus shed His blood and died on the cross, the whole debt of sin to God was paid by Him. He spent three hours on the cross bearing the penalty of the...

I know this is a bit off topic, but this is up your alley. I dreamed this morning that I was with the British actor Rowan Atkinson on a bus full of Jehovah's Witnesses. Try and interpret that one! :-)

Yep. You are correct. I can't argue with clear Scripture!

    The Word of God

There are no Scriptures that support our old nature being nailed to the cross with Jesus. Our old nature is part of our physical bodies, that is, our flesh. It will die along with our physical bodies. But there is a Scripture somewhere that says that something was nailed to the cross with...

    The Trinity definition

The nature of the Godhead is a mystery. Any attempt to explain it to our mortal minds will come short and leave us with a sense of dissatifaction. We know that there is a Father, a Son and a Holy Spirit. That is a given, because they are clearly delineated in Scripture. How they are...

    Your favorite Psalm?

Psalm 23 is a good one for me.

When Jesus told these things to the Jewish Pharisees, the Christian church was not yet born, so the prophecies, casting out of demons, and great deeds were not view in the context of a Christian church that did not yet exist. So, it is safely assumed that the Jewish Pharisees and teachers did...

I don't see it that way. I don't see how Romans 14 can apply to Paul's correction of Peter. Peter freely ate with Gentiles when there were no Jews present, but when the contingent of Jews came from Jerusalem, Peter chose to eat with them turning his back on the Gentiles. This was because the...

Poll: Tattoo art - Christian perspectives: Fight it? Ignore it? appreciate/embrace it?

My daughter has a tattoo of a lion on her arm to show her powerlifting strength at the gym and underneath it she added one of a kitty cat to show that she loves cats. I think it looks great on her and I have no worries about it from a spiritual point of view.

Jesus was talking to unconverted Jewish Pharisees. We know that when Jesus comes again, every knee shall bow to the Lordship of Christ both converted and unconverted persons. You will notice in the response of the ones under judgment that they were attempting to justify themselves by their...

I agree. Peter was on the journey toward full sanctification, and it showed that he was still on the way in his development. It shows that he, like all of us, is not perfect. Paul did right in correcting him, but he did it as a loving brother, not killing Peter with kindness. Proverbs says...

Poll: Tattoo art - Christian perspectives: Fight it? Ignore it? appreciate/embrace it?

If I see others will tattoos, I don't comment or give attention, because their tattoo is none of my business. All my attention is on trying to get a view on God's will for my own life and how I can better serve Him with the gifts I have. When it comes to commenting on the personal lives of...

The instruction is to obey the gospel of Christ, which is to believe that when Jesus shed His blood on the cross we can receive Christ and be born again of the Spirit of God. Disobedience involves adopting a personal performance based religion, instead of trusting fully in God's grace, and the...

No. That story was told by Jesus to unconverted Jews to show how the Jews treated God's prophets, and finally will reject their Messiah, and looks to the future when there will be a final judgment when those Jew who reject their Messiah will incur the wrath of God. The passage was not written...

Are you referring to me? If so, you need to know that I am a Reformed Pentecostal with foundations in 17th Century Calvinist Puritan theology, discipled by a very strict Methodist Holiness pastor. That's about as far away from WOF as one can get!

a hypocrite is not a person who struggles with sin in his life and knows it, but is a person who says he is good when he is not, and has a holy than thou attitude to those he thinks is living at a lower standard of sanctification than himself.
