(I think it is located near Usa, Japan*...) *That is from an old gag about being made in Usa. ;)

Artists often use wooden figures to help them draw better. They are called "lay figures," but they are not much help when it comes to drawing faces, so I started making custom lay figures using 1990s' GI Joe & action figure Barbie bods & faces. Playscale Poser (My Flickr site.)

Not lately. My "studio" is temporarily shut down while I try coordinate roof repairs. Thanks for asking, though.

And you were creeped out by 30-minute organs...

Fun thread....Did you know......(finish the sentence)

Because the hour hand is only pointing directly at the hour at exactly ?:00. After that, it starts creeping toward the next hour, so it is a little past the hour when the minute hand overtakes it. There is no 11:?? because the minute hand never overtakes the hour hand before it arrives at 12...

Did you know that... the minute hand crosses the hour hand 22 times in a 24-hour period...? (Now, you know!)

    The Book of Jasher...?

I don't need the Book of Jasher to tell me that. Genesis makes that clear. Jacob only took advantage of Esau's disregard (with God's blessing). Jacob was an opportunist. His oft-repeated epithet, "supplanter" is synonymous with the modern English, "underhanded."

Should the Bible translation be changed? (Poll)

His associated vowels are lost to history. That is why there is a dispute between "Jehovah," "Yahweh" and everything in between.

Should the Bible translation be changed? (Poll)

Those are all transliterations. Their emphasis is on pronunciation instead of meaning in the hearer's language.

    Right, Wrong, and Moral.................

It seems like you're asking, Is there a universal plumb line? If so, how would one recognize it?? The problem is that we are all born with little or no sense of it. We have to be "plugged in" before we can see (and abide by) it. Otherwise, we are doomed for not abiding by a standard that we...

Should the Bible translation be changed? (Poll)

With your argument that "[a]ll letters of the Hebrew alphabet are present in the English language with the same sounds," it sounds like you are making a case for better transliteration, rather than name translation.

Should the Bible translation be changed? (Poll)

Yehowshua transliterated is Joshua, Yeshua, Jesus, Iesous, etc. (depending on who you ask).* Yehowshua translated is He-Saves, Savior, Ransom, Liberator and other synonyms. *Specifics: Jesus < Iesous < Jeshua/Yeshua < Ye'shua < Yehowshua Joshua < Y'owshua < Yehowshua (Ye'shua & Y'owshua are...

Should the Bible translation be changed? (Poll)

Your post is off-topic. This thread is about whether to translate proper names in the Bible or to keep transliterating them.

Should the Bible translation be changed? (Poll)

Translating names [instead of transliterating them] would not adversely affect Biblical accuracy, but it would likely have a negative affect on its readability.

    The Book of Jasher...?

Someone quoted the Book of Jasher on another thread. What church considers it to be canon?

Should the Bible translation be changed? (Poll)

What church includes the Book of Jasher in their canon? (This is moving away from the OP of "name translation" vs. "name transliteration." I created a new thread so we don't further hijack this one.) The Book of Jasher...?

Should the Bible translation be changed? (Poll)

That's fine with me, but it begs the question, "Why are you here...?" (You're certainly welcome to be here. I just don't know how to process that statement.)
