No one is denying that one can express love any or every day. No one is claiming just these days. It's AND. And also express love on special days on the calendar that mark milestones in a persons life. And it is NOT a commercial object; it is living a joyous and celebratory life! There is...

On a different aspect of a serious question for JW is leaving. Last year, @Aunty Jane and I talked about my SIL's experience. You said he could formally leave. I had the opportunity to talk to him about that this weekend at a party. He said the process is called reproving, which has the same...

You need to read and understand the New Covenant. 6 But in fact the ministry Jesus has received is as superior to theirs as the covenant of which he is mediator is superior to the old one, since the new covenant is established on better promises. For if there had been nothing wrong with that...

You have no horse in this race? You are deceiving yourself. Loving others is EXACTLY what the Bible teaches. Embracing the customs of others is EXACTLY what the Bible teaches! When it is convenient for your doctrine, you abandon the freedom in Christ of the new covenant and pretend like Gentiles...

What do you mean there is no such thing in the Bible? I just provided 2 precedents - Gentile Christians could keep eating certain foods and not undergo circumcision. It's like you are advocating some kind of ascethic like style, not required by Christ. We are not saved by what we do but by...

By only the Jews. And it does not apply to celebrating birthdays.

Your hateful opposition to love others is palpable. You got it all backwards. Generally speaking, occasions are for a personal milestone a loved one has reached. Each person has these special occasions - including birthdays. Most people consider a wedding to also be that persons special day...

Friend, the only need is liberty. Even Bibles are given on an occasion recorded inside. I like to tell people I got my wife a matching watch on the occasion of our wedding.

Again, God does not forbid us celebrating birthdays. You know the OT covenant does not apply to us. Obviously, you don’t want to answer the question of what is the motivation people have to celebrate the life of one by celebrating their birthday: love or malevolence. This reveals you know the...

That covenant does not apply to us and was replaced by a better one that made the old obsolete.

Probably has something to do with slandering fellow Christians who celebrate birthdays as being true demon worshipers.

Yes. If anything, brushing one’s teeth is even more significant of non-biblically authorized action since it is done daily while celebrating a birthday is only done annually. While you are quick to judge my argument as weak, you fail to acknowledge the weakness of your own arguments. It’s not...

Well, we all understand you don’t think it is a good argument. And I agree that a command from God to do a thing is a stronger argument than the absence of a prohibition against a thing. Yet, there it is. I suppose it is a question of liberty. Are we only allowed to do what we are specifically...

And no verse where God prohibited it.

Celebrating birthdays is not against Gods will. You’ve been asked point blank to produce a verse prohibiting it. All you got is Poisoning The Well. If a bad guy brushed his teeth, it does not make brushing teeth inherently evil. If teeth brushing began as a Pagan ritual, it does not make it...

Demon. Not Pagan. 1 Corinthians 10:21 New Living Translation 21 You cannot drink from the cup of the Lord and from the cup of demons, too. You cannot eat at the Lord’s Table and at the table of demons, too. This has to be reconciled with 1 Corinthians 9:19-23, be all things to all people so...

It doesn’t seem nearly like a hill worth dying on. I’m going to celebrate at the slightest provocation. I see it as part of living joyfully. Praise God 365. Praise God during pagan and secular, festivals and celebrations. It may be the pathway that brings others closer to Christ.

Not exactly a ringing prohibition. Seems to me the opposition to celebrating birthdays goes against life. All glory to God yes. Celebrate people’s lives who are important to you. In 2 months I’m expecting my 18th grandchild to join our family. We plan to give glory to God AND celebrate her...
