Homosexuals are twice as likely to get cancer

I'm not sure where you are going with this line of reasoning. Most things in the real world have pros and cons. People die in car accidents. Should we abolish cars? If you want to avoid risk, guess what? That's an impossibility because life is risk.

Homosexuals are twice as likely to get cancer

Because doctors are fallible. I had to double check the title of this thread. Science is merely an application of epistemology, that branch of philosophy dealing with knowledge. A basic tool of epistemology is logic, the art of the non-contradictory identification of truth. Whether we are...

Christianity requires fear, guilt, and conformity

Thanks for your straight forward answer. Doesn't that contradict above? I agree those who are incapable of making reason based decision, including those in a coma, do not have rights by definition. It seems to me you are skipping over a fundamental truth. The "developing organism" IS a living...

    The Morality of Lying

I have pointed out to my wife the limits of women wanting a truly honest relationship. When a wife asks her husband if the shirt or dress makes her look fat and he says "No, it's your fat that makes you look fat," she's not going to be all happy about such honesty. :spring:

    The Morality of Lying

Maybe this is the White Lie @MatthewG was talking about. My former pastor (she retired) wrote a book called Grace and Truth and delved into this notion we ought to be bound by Grace 1st, along with truth, which means avoiding unnecessarily hurtful truth. Your post in the OP goes beyond that...

Homosexuals are twice as likely to get cancer

Bisexual is as bisexual does. One is not still living after they die. It is action that dictates not "orientation."

Homosexuals are twice as likely to get cancer

Guess again. Your grasp of what racism is is FUBAR.

Christianity requires fear, guilt, and conformity

The question is what is your acceptance criteria? I appeal to you as a reasonable and educated person. As the Bible says @ Isaiah 1:18, "Let us reason together." Recently, I've been studying the controversial historical figure, General Douglas MacArthur. In answering the question should he have...

Christianity requires fear, guilt, and conformity

You contradict yourself from one paragraph to another. Either you gave me your reasons OR there is no acceptance criteria for you to give.

    The Morality of Lying

A very important topic. Discretion. The Right to Privacy and the social expectation to reveal what one is not obligated to reveal. Simply put, "remaining silent" is not socially acceptable. Then what? Two posts inspired this thread. I'd like to know your thoughts? Was it wrong, would God have...

Homosexuals are twice as likely to get cancer

The propagandists don't mention this phenomena. My friend was a bisexual for decades but gave it up via an act of will. He concluded it was not in his best interest.

Christianity requires fear, guilt, and conformity

No acceptance criteria! Gotcha. Just denial - plain and simple for unstated reasons.

Christianity requires fear, guilt, and conformity

I realize you are stubbornly holding to a false believe. Again, I ask what set of facts would convince you that America is a Christian nation? What would have to happen for you to acknowledge the culture of America, the people and it's government are Christian?

Christianity requires fear, guilt, and conformity

You are projecting. OK, out with it. In your estimation, how long after conception do you feel comfortable using the term "baby?" What is your standard, your criteria to invoke word games to justify baby killing?

Christianity requires fear, guilt, and conformity

Rights are not given, they are endowed by our Creator. There can be no question that a baby is incapable of reasoned decision-making. Our society debates when "the age of majority" ought to be but ranges from 13 to 25 years of age. Most societies have a graduated scale rather than an all at...

Christianity requires fear, guilt, and conformity

The Founding Father's were Christians and I provided their own words that the basis of our government was Christian based. Feel free to review my post quoting the full text of Adams statement in Post #234.

Christianity requires fear, guilt, and conformity

Agh. In light of the presented facts what would mean something in support of the proposition that America is a Christian nation?

Christianity requires fear, guilt, and conformity

No. That was my response to your argument. My argument is in these 2 points that America is and always was a Christian nation from the time of Columbus to today. You just ignore the argument and put forth your own "evidence." Not too intellectually honest.

"My doctrinal opinion is true; you're doctrinal opinion is false." - Got it?

IDOLATRY. Christendom is filled with IDOLATRY. Their IDOL is their doctrine. I just finished a Bible Study entitled "Three Strands." We discussed this very point in some detail. The human condition cannot seem to stick to the simplicity of the Gospel. It is so simple. Jesus is the way, the...
