Legalism has done a lot of damage. I think in contrast of Romans 14.17: "For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost."

PS: A classic, doctrinal passage about peace with God is Romans 5.1: 'Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God, through our Lord Jesus Christ', etc.

@Ziggy Babylon as a symbol seems to symbolize a mixing of all sorts of influences - commercial, political and supposedly spiritual - withing one, huge conglomerate: in the NT, in 1 Corinthians 10.32, we see Jews, Gentiles and the church of God as distinct.

John 14.27. "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid."

Hi @Corlove13 Acts 2.41 indeed makes it clear that people were baptised because they had gladly received the Gospel, already believing it; the inward turning was already there before the outward symbol was practised.

@Sabertooth Years ago, gas supply was sometimes intermittent - and dangerous: when ppl fell asleep at home in front of a gas fire, the gas could become extinuished ... and then come on again when the supply resumed, but without the flame; so sometimes people were gassed to death in their sleep...

Hi @Naomi25 The problem with excessive reliance on logic is that the logical system may seem internally compelling to its advocates or to people willing to be swayed by it, yet as you imply it does not necessarily accord with the statements of Scripture, which is where to go first, right?

Great verses there; excellent to see the Three Persons of the Godhead in John's Gospel, so active and working together.
