@Gideons300 The parable of the sower indicates that true faith brings forth lasting fruit, as seed that falls upon good ground. (Personally I don't think this contradicts full assurance and eternal security for the truly born again believer.)

Ephesians 2 says that apart from the grace of God we are dead in trespasses and sins. This is why we need to be saved by grace alone through faith in the work of Christ, 'not of works, lest any man should boast' (Ephesians 2.9).
