The Cult of the Jehovah's Witnesses?

Odd how you keep telling me my responsibilities in my thread but you seem to have none.

The Cult of the Jehovah's Witnesses?

I did make the context clear. See OP, Point #4.

Try answering questions in their proper context.

The Cult of the Jehovah's Witnesses?

Bob, consider the possibility that you have taken my questions out of context. Someone else mentioned a work based point system as a means of control. It is in this context that my question was made, not to violate POINT #4 of the OP. Thanks!

For those who think Jesus is God - Why is that important?

Rev 1:1 make it clear that Jesus is NOT God; God gave Jesus the revelation. How do you explain that?

Ephesians 2:8-9 - a grace by faith salvation

It's a foundational point! Thanks. If faith ensured salvation, it would be a work. I recall a sermon years ago that God is not obligated to react according to one's strength of belief. As you said, it is not He who acts per our belief, faith or will but we who must act according to His Will.

The Cult of the Jehovah's Witnesses?

Let's stick to the OP topic of whether or not JW is a cult.

The Cult of the Jehovah's Witnesses?

Ouch! I wish God's children could show more grace to one another than that. One thing has nothing to do with the other thing. Knocking on doors is works, isn't it?

God's Personal Name & New World Translation

"Father" is not a being's name but a relationship.

For those who think Jesus is God - Why is that important?

Really? John 8:24 does NOT say Jesus is God and if you do not believe this you cannot be saved; rather, it says to believe he is who says and in Mark 14:61-62, Jesus Big Reveal, that he admits being the Son of God, for which he is crucified. Sad reach.

For those who think Jesus is God - Why is that important?

Jesus died. That’s the biggest change a life form can be subject to.

For those who think Jesus is God - Why is that important?

Where does Scripture say Jesus is God and if you do not believe this you cannot be saved?

For those who think Jesus is God - Why is that important?

You must not understand what it means to mediate between 2 things; it necessarily means you are not one of those 2 things.

    ˒ĕlōhı̂m: Plural Persons, or Majesty?

I thought the title of this thread offered a non-plural option; namely, or majesty?

The Cult of the Jehovah's Witnesses?

Post #2 details a lot of pressure put on performance. I think you call it discipline of those ostracized.

The Cult of the Jehovah's Witnesses?

Just a reminder … Their doctrines are outside the scope of this thread. Let’s stay on the cult aspect, such as their alleged point system. (This is the first I heard of this but it sounds like a tool for control and guilt and shame).

The Cult of the Jehovah's Witnesses?

You mean JW are not good listeners? Rather than have a conversation, they are in lecture-mode most of the time?

The Cult of the Jehovah's Witnesses?

My first encounter with JW was as a child. A next-door neighbor’s cousin was a JW. I played sports with my next-door neighbor all the time and there was something odd when his cousin came over. He attempted to minimize conversation post-game. I talk to the kid every day but the cousin seemed to...

The Cult of the Jehovah's Witnesses?

1st, I have to say that I have a lot of respect for JW's that I have met in person and in this forum. 2nd, this question or accusation comes up in many threads and I thought I'd flush it out and by using a poll. If it is not true, why do so many here, and former members call JW a cult? 3rd...
