    Bible reading plans

“Filter everything through Scripture. News. Politics. Podcasts. Sermons. Social media. If the Bible is not your lens, culture or even our own opinions will be. The Word of God must be final authority.” (Scott Roberts) https://x.com/scottroberts/status/2092261968828637348?s=61 To follow that...

    * RIP Dolly Parton. On behalf of the children you served with Imagination Library, thank you. *

The good man that turned bad out of necessity

I chose the way of Jesus and the apostles; the role of believers. I sided with them and teach others to do likewise. The way of the Muslims and the Crusaders isn’t their / my way. You chose the way of the Muslims and the Crusaders; the role of the state. You sided with the Crusaders.

I feel a little uncertain, calling myself a 'newbie' - but I need help (and once upon a time, I *was* a newbie!)

Another blessing from above. I can’t wait to see your face when Jesus vindicates me. And he will.

I like everything about your advice except for the implied limitation concerning Paul’s Epistles. I would broaden your advice, to include all scripture - the Hebrew Bible and the New Testament; the entirety of the Bible.

The good man that turned bad out of necessity

I’m truly sorry that has happened to you. That’s the spirit of the world - or as @Riven would say, the way of the world. Jesus is calling people to come out of the spirit / way of the world. Those of us who have responded to his call remain in the world, but we are not of the world. We live as...

The good man that turned bad out of necessity

We have sources outside of scripture which acknowledge the claim. I agree that we do. However, it hasn’t been shown that the apostles were liars, exaggerated, or were mistaken. Between the time of his death and the writings of the gospels - a couple of decades - we have oral transmission...

The good man that turned bad out of necessity

I’m sorry that you have. I have been too. Even worse in my case, I’ve hurt followers of Jesus. We are are examples of persons who have been hurt by followers of Jesus - be they genuine or false - and have cleared it from the path; not allowing it to keep us from being followers of Jesus.

The good man that turned bad out of necessity

You haven’t recognized it yet, but I have. That’s why we’re having this conversation. Jesus wants you to recognize it. We can see him in his followers. I do. He wants you to. Have you been hurt by people who said they were his followers?

The good man that turned bad out of necessity

Mankind has done a lousy job managing the world. But I think that’s also part of the reason that the end hasn’t come yet. Not all men think we‘ve botched it. God is going to allow man to get a bellyful of his mismanagement so that man will not say that we were on our way to making the earth a...

The good man that turned bad out of necessity

That stems from either not believing that there is a God, or believing that there is a God (or even gods) who has abandoned us to our own devices. We’ll obviously have to come back to this. You presently recognize no authority other than man. Let’s start there. Man has rules. If we break the...

The good man that turned bad out of necessity

I was just reappointed this month to serve another three years on the Kentucky Citizen Foster Care Review Board in the county where I currently reside. We have a meeting scheduled for tomorrow morning, and a few of the children are homosexual and transgender. They are loved by their foster care...

The good man that turned bad out of necessity

It’s sin, but it’s not the unforgivable sin. Sin can be forgiven. Jesus doesn’t want us to turn our backs on our children. However, neither does Jesus want us to put our children (or anything else) before him. I haven’t had this problem to clear. I know quite a number of people who have had...

The good man that turned bad out of necessity

Yes. I’m always interested in learning about what keeps a person from following Jesus. I’ve never encountered a reason that hasn’t been cleared by someone. I may not have had to clear the reasons that are in your way, but I’m sure someone has. Would you like to clear them? I think it is fair...

The good man that turned bad out of necessity

As I sit down to eat lunch, I’m chewing on a pimento cheese sandwich… and Luke 6:40. It’s impossible for someone to believe that the teaching of Jesus is divorced from reality to win over the Muslims.
