Thanks. “You are not following Jesus if you aren’t armed, ready to kill.” What do you think about this doctrine?

Thanks. Roman Catholic / Catholic appears to be the common denominator.

Being a Christian conscientious objector myself, I’m naturally interested in how nations treat CO’s during times of war. https://www.whodoyouthinkyouaremagazine.com/tutorials/military/conscientious-objectors-ww1 An article I’ve been reading this morning.

What specifically makes Vlad and Constantine imposters in your eyes?

So we appear to be in agreement that Christians were killing Christians in the war.

From the OP - “Christian hero Prince Vlad” That’s Vlad the Impaler. Do you think Vlad could be an example of someone who called himself a Christian but wasn’t?

Setting our good conversation about York aside, as well as the issue of whether or not German soldiers in WWI were Christian, do you think any Christians - combatants and / or non-combatants - were killed by Christians during the war?

Of course he is. This is about the change in the covenants. With the coming of the Messiah, the new creation has begun.

That’s right. But we’re talking about Christians, 1st century - present. With the coming of the Messiah, a change has occurred.

I’m not denying that York was a Christian. He was a conscientious objector. The author of the OP insists (in other threads) that conscientious objectors, by definition, aren’t Christian and that they are men in form but not in substance. This last provides insight into why he started this...

    God Commands Righteous Violence

That may or may not be the case. I quoted the article only to establish the fact that York was a conscientious objector who attempted multiple times to obtain an exemption and only went because he was threatened with arrest if he didn’t.

Christians with “little choice but to be vicious with little empathy”. Let’s think about that. Is that what Jesus wants for his followers? *** Just as an aside, during the Ante Nicene period of Church history, a man like York would be prohibited from serving in the ministry.

Yes. A conscientious objector who didn’t want to be there was being shot at by German soldiers - Lutherans and Catholics. Perhaps he did. God didn’t protect all Christians, on either side. Why do you doubt?
