We really do need the Holy Spirit to lead us into ALL TRUTH.....You do realize that every religion of the 30,000 denominations say that and come up with different interpretations of the scriptures. Does the Holy Spirit have a sense of humor?

Humor, Grailhunter’s early lesson in theology….thought I would give you something to laugh at. I grew up with the Jews in University City and Clayton. As a young person I enjoyed comparing notes with them, but was startled to find out that they knew things about Christianity that most...

When I am talking to someone that is a fundamentalist I try to stay within those perimeters. The discussion of the correct translation of the scriptures is within those perimeters. The belief in God, the spiritual, the Word of God, the power thereof...our understanding of any and all of that is...

Part 2 to that discussion on the J’s As you have seen I use the term J Bibles, and that pretty much includes most Bibles, but that goes into the discussion of the J slam on the Bibles. You and I discussed the issue with God’s names. But that was only one of the casualties of the J slam. The...

I have no problem with Revelation and have heard the various interpretations of it....that is a broad spectrum from it occurring during 70 ad siege to flying saucers.

For one I am talking what what they did and how to know that...right or wrong, that is two different religions. The coat or cloak thing was to afford the woman some dignity during the event. As I have said before, I do not believe we should bring Judaism into Christianity....but....there are...

The internet is the least reliable. I grew up with Jews and spend some money on some good books on the topic. The Jews are big on customs and a lot of them still know them.

The thing is that once you start looking at the scriptures at the language level this sort of thing comes up. When you combine the languages with the culture that also reveals some information...like Ruth did not uncover Boaz's feet....She dressed up to meet Boaz alone at night on the threshing...

they called them wise men because they did not like the word Magi. They could not understand why witches were interested in Christ. They did the same thing Christ's mother's name...they did not like the meaning of Miriam.

That is the question, why was it important to them? Tradition remember trinket gifts...the Bible says it was a treasure. No reason to call Jews witches and sorcerers. Could be an interesting thread, like I said they are historical and the Bible was not the only place knew them to be witches and...

Not a hard study. First off the name means what it means. They were the mystics of of Persia...Media....yes Media. The mystic branch of Zoroastrianism..into the sciences of the day and astrology and astronomy...that is why they knew what "the star" was about. Looking for that sign. At the time...

The word Magi means sorcerers and witches...I guess some Jews could ask to get into a group of witches. This religion still exist today. Daniel....please do tell how you came up with that!

I will agree with you on that....traditions and legends....are all good to consider....but I look closely at them. Just like the story of the Magi....there was a reason they called them wise men instead of Magi in some Bibles.
