Is it a sin to use contraception?

A lot of Christians would find this hard to follow. Not by any means all of the eggs fertilized will actually become implanted and grow to a foetus. (Maybe we won't agree on this one.)

THE CHURCH DID NOT START AT PENTECOST

I have a hard job believing that Old Testament prophets with bushy beards were preaching in all its revelatory fullness the Gospel content of what the Apostles in the newly founded church preached. (We probably won't agree on this one...)

Poll: Does the mainstreaming of tattoos open up increasing opportunities for faith ink witness?

@Huperetes Thanks for your comment. It's interesting that the next verse seems to say about not trimming one's beard. Do preachers shave? if they do, then they are maybe backhandedly admitting that they are New Testament believers under grace, for whom the Gospel - and consequently taking Gospel...

Is it a sin to use contraception?

In the Anglican prayer book, there is even a form of service, if desired, for women who have had miscarriages. I do think it would be stretching definitions - and an unnecessary psychological burden on women - for anyone to try to argue that the microscopic failure of a fertilization to become...

Is it a sin to use contraception?

There is Scripture for the breath of life, I think. Since many fertilizations occur which never become implanted in the lining of the womb and thus grow to become a foetus, it's hard to call it an abortion. I'm not necessarily arguing in favour of condoms; but it's hard to argue against them on...

@Huperetes FYI....did you see the recent poll, above?

THE CHURCH DID NOT START AT PENTECOST

...but in the OT it hadn't happened yet... 1 Corinthians 10.32 speaks of Jews, Gentiles and the church of God...

Very sincere sympathy. Psalm 46; John 14.1-27

Is it a sin to use contraception?

A lot of Christians would agree that for bc condoms would be among the least problematic.

THE CHURCH DID NOT START AT PENTECOST

Did the Holy Spirit really come in indwell in the wilderness as He indeed did at Pentecost? The Old Testament saints were justified by faith (Hebrews 11); the chapter goes on to indicate that they were not the church with fulness of revelation and privilege in the sense that we now have.

Where in the bible does it say I need to use it

@FHII We all indeed need encouragement and challenge from God's Word. When someone brings it to us in honesty and sincerity, this should be regarded as a good thing.

Poll: Does the mainstreaming of tattoos open up increasing opportunities for faith ink witness?

Hi @Jay Ross Thanks for the comment. It says that multiple votes are allowed; I guess this allows for the fact that it might not be a strictly scientific poll. The emphasis is participation I suppose rather than scientifically "proving" something.

Is it a sin to use contraception?

Today it would be unthinkable for a preacher to announce: "Today Brother so-and-so has been excommunicated because he used a condom with his brother's widow." But those who wish to force the church to be viewed as Old Testament Israel would logically - if not in actual fact - be promoting this...

Can men with tattoos be saved?

@FHII It really is very widespread, like you say. So many Christians have tattoos. FYI, this quote - like lots - shows just how prevalent it is: forums dot thewelltrainedmind dot com You are absolutely right when you say, if you get more ink in a Christian theme, it won't make you more...

    Intellectual Christianity and the Generation

@rockytopva Unbelief can also be arrogant - hiding as supposed humility. But you are absolutely right about need to serve the Lord and testify in a humble manner.

Can men with tattoos be saved?

@rockytopva Well, they still do. More than ever. It used to be man thing; though now in North America apparently 59% - 70% or more of parlor clients are female. My wife and I talked to a young lady with the whole of John 3.16 tattooed on her wrist area; it was her favorite Bible verse and mine...

Thanks to all who voted so far in the poll! NB: If you have not yet voted in the poll, please vote now! :)

Is it a sin to use contraception?

We're back talking about the OT passage, and I see what you mean. In 1 Cor. 7, the words used are 'defraud not...'. In other words, in the language of Paul, Onan was defrauding his brother's wife. But the New Testament analogy cannot be too close, because the custom involved - impregnating...
