We are either still sinners, thus a slave to sin, or freed from sin. To teach we will always sin is teaching licentiousness. I'm not a liar. That is scripture. John 8:34-36

Well, something's got you blinded to the fact that verse 13 shows a sinner. That is before Christ, or do you believe Jesus takes away our sin, but not the desire to sin. Desires are in the flesh, but Romans 8:9 says we are NOT in the flesh but in the Spirit. What did Jesus free us from, the law...

If I'm in error, I would rather err on the side of holiness, than licentiousness.

Paul wanted us to be like him and have a pure conscience. I have a pure conscience, so I am of the status of Paul. If you think that is the worst of sinners and he can have a pure conscience at the same time, again you must be reading out of context. Yikes!

Present tense verbs? Is that what's tripped you up.

In Romans 7 do you always start at verse 14, when 13 would show you the reason it is not a Christian. Jesus takes away our sin. The person in Romans 7 still has sin. Look at the contrast when you read chapter 8

You do know that Paul had been a Zealot Pharisee persecuting the church and was the worst sinner of all the apostles when Jesus found him, and changed him. Jesus came to take away and free us from sin, and in Him there is no sin. Thus Paul has been reborn. It looks like you believe because we...

You failed to take the test. The proof is in the pudding. So, are 100% of your prayers answered? If not, your doctrine may be why.

Wow, take scripture out of context much???

"Evil Paul"? So Paul was not born again of the Spirit? He is just telling others they are dead to sin, but he isn't? Romans 7 is NOT the life of a Christian, as verse 13 says he still has sin. Romans 8 shows us what Jesus came to do - condemn sin in the flesh. IOW to take it away, and the...

But if I'm wrong, I'll still be with you in heaven. But if I'm right, will you be there? I hope so. We have assurance if we keep His commandments, and the proof is answered prayer. 100% of my prayers are positively answered. Are yours? 1 John 3:18-23 My little children, let us not love in...

Out of the two trains of thought and belief, lets pretend that only one of has the correct doctrine between yours and mine - positional righteousness vs. practicing righteousness. If you are right, we will both be saved. If I am right...

That's one way to look at it, though scripture doesn't say. But the baby did die. I really need to head to bed. Good night. Did you read my long post to you that answered your questions on the difference types of sin?

It has been a puzzle, but as I said it seems that it was for while they were in the wilderness and learning the ways of a holy God. Why do you believe David was not killed. One thing I never understood is concubines.

You mean my typo? "They didn't perform a sacrifice either"

Why aren't we killed? It is puzzling, for sure, but as I said, the baby died. David truly repented, and evidently God honored it because of his heart. The corporal punishment doesn't seem to go beyond the wilderness. It certainly isn't now, and I expect it wasn't in David's day either.

Roll up a few to my big post to you. Try around #608. Depending on if someone is on ignore the numbers sometimes don't match up, but close to that area. Good night. I've been adding to it, but can't think of anything else.

They didn't perform a sacrifice either, because it wouldn't have done any good. God killed the baby, sometimes a worse punishment.
