    When to Stop

This is how the comparison suggested may be apt. Repentance and faith are for the believer an ongoing state of mind, by God's grace; they are instincts now that don't stop. Anne Steele's words come to mind: "Oh may these hallowed pages be My ever dear delight! And still new beauties may I see...

    The word, "Doctrine"

"Thy word is truth" (John 17.17).

    When to Stop

"Thy word is truth" (John 17.17) assumes constant reference to the Scriptures rather than to a supposedly infallible hierarchy. At the Reformation, the truth of justification by faith was mightily reasserted.

    When to Stop

PS: Here's another good verse: "For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death." (2 Corinthians 7.10) The believer is indeed by definition a repentant person; it's something that is ongoing in the life of faith (not simply an...

    When to Stop

Searching the Scriptures for the Apostles' doctrine (Acts 2.42) is the best guide.

Poll: Best age for first tattoo?

I think the OP quote is a strong indicator, in any case.

    On Simplicity

Christ's Headship in its different aspects is a doctrine which is often neglected.

    Spiritual versus Religious

Good quote from 1 John 3. I do love that short Epistle! :)

Poll: Best age for first tattoo?

Sounds like she has gotten accustomed to it by now; I think you mentioned that at one stage she wanted to have it removed. (If she's had it for years, maybe in the intervening years in any case women have seemingly achieved what might be termed complete tattoo equality - see OP quote - with men...

    Witnessing to JWs

"Who hath ascended up into heaven, or descended? who hath gathered the wind in his fists? who hath bound the waters in a garment? who hath established all the ends of the earth? what is his name, and what is his son's name, if thou canst tell?" (Proverbs 30.4)

The Bible puts us at a Crossroads

It's sometimes not remembered that the law was changed (Hebrews 7.12) and what we now have is indeed better than the law (Hebrews 7.19). :)

    To encourage towards Christ

I seem to be able to quote it from the KJV. Such a tonic for the believer, Romans 8! :)

Poll: Best age for first tattoo?

@JohnPaul Often a single colour - e.g., black - tattoo done lines inked in bid bold strokes is very effectively conspicuous. So is yours in one colour? or maybe multicoloured?

The Bible puts us at a Crossroads

Such a lot in that small First Epistle of John! it seems to contain in a pithy way many of the great themes of Christian doctrine surrounding the Person and Work of the Lord Jesus.

    Alive or dead

What an encouragement at the funeral of a believer! :) (We seem to have been going to a lot of those, lately...)
