    Alive or dead

Philippians is indeed so rich and so searching. We did a series on Philippians at our local church years ago.

Ear piercing: for sons as well as for daughters: is it appropriate? (plus poll)

Do they still mention it? :) How bizarre!

    Passed away?

Sorry; which post are you referring to? :)

    Heart talk

Yes, we can look for and find blessings in so many places... :)

Thanks to all who voted so far in the poll! NB: If you have not yet voted in the poll, please vote now! :)

Is there salvation outside the Catholic Church?

I think it's more the influence of the Scriptures and prayer that may stay with a child for possible later blessing, rather than whether s/he has been sprinkled as an infant.

The Truth will set/make you free

@Heart2Soul starts such thought-provoking, Scripture based threads... :)

Poll: Best age for first tattoo?

@Butterfly So did anyone ask you lately? any recent opportunities arose for you to tell of your testimony? It used to be almost exclusively a man thing, decades back; but it's good now that women can do it with confidence.

    When to Stop

Someone said that context in Bible study is co-text. (Which was an interesting thing to say, with truth in it, I guess.) At the Renaissance and Reformation, word meanings in context was the way to read the texts, sacred and secular.

Poll: Best age for first tattoo?

It used to be that women would often get small ones if they got them at all. But maybe this occurred at a relatively transitional time, when getting tattooed at all was gradually becoming a womanly thing to do. Now many women get tattooed with large designs and do it with confidence - it...

The Truth will set/make you free

So good to meditate in John's Gospel about the deep themes of the Word, the Holy Spirit, the Truth, and so forth. We are doing a long term study of John's Gospel and it's really searching. Many of the themes that John takes up in his Gospel are also taken up in his First Epistle.

Good thread to come back to! :)

    Freedom from Sin

Great verse there! John 8.32. (I didn't read the link ...yet)

    When to Stop

I guess one of the lessons of systematic theology (not that I'm into the idea of reading logical patterns into Scripture anyway) may be that so much is ultimately interrelated; and so one topic will dove-tail into another. So it never really stops, in any case...(If this makes sense?)

Poll: Best age for first tattoo?

It's what women do now, incl. women of all ages. FYI, I saw this report in Huffington Post: ' "...Most of my clients are in the older bracket," Gallo-Kohlas told The Huffington Post. "We see a lot of women in their sixties and seventies getting their first tattoos." Gallo-Kohlas recalls a...

    Who has read Malachi lately?

I don't see the church in the Old Testament; it likely refers to Millennial conditions.

    Heart talk

Yes, I can see it would and should even be geared to the residents...

    When to Stop

There is a sense also in which prayer and the Scriptures should be our daily portion anyway, right? and they strengthen our faith in the Saviour.

    Keeping Sabbath not in effect

Hebrews 7.12 says the law was changed (because the priesthood was changed).

    When to Stop

So 'When to stop' is an impossible question to ask and to answer, really. It's even a bit like getting tattooed; if you have had it done once, when do you/should you stop? after 1 tattoo? after 2? after 3? after 4? (little ones? big ones?) There's no easy answer; and even if you do think you...
