Has any pastor here used altar calls in the past and stopped using them?

Don’t get me wrong. There’s merit in developing a healthy biblical based fear of God.

The Sunday school teachers and the pastor have. He attends a Baptist private school. I think he’s getting it there too. I’m actively working against them.

Thanks but I’d rather the thread not go in that direction. (There are numerous threads on that issue and my view is posted in several of them.) I would really like to stay focused on altar calls. What do you think about them? The timing of this family issue is, I think, more than just coincidental.

Those platforms didn’t exist when the series originally aired on TV in the 50’s and 60’s. I don’t know if it’s ever been on TikTok but it can be seen on YouTube.

I assume you responded to an altar call. I appreciate you sharing your perspective. It needs to be part of the conversation. Surely there are a great number of people who have and are very comfortable with it.
