    Reason for The Crusades explained

No. It is alluded to in the OP. It’s a simple matter of history that the Crusaders were cruel; just as cruel as the Muslims were. Take that up with General Sherman some day, if you have the opportunity. Did Jesus defend himself against the pagan Romans? Did the apostles defend themselves...

The happy thread was dead. Long live the happy thread!

    * My then girlfriend (now wife) and I went to see the movie on our first date. Bad choice on my part. I was unaware that she can’t stand the sight of snakes, nor was I aware that there were snakes in the movie. It wasn’t immediately clear to me after the movie if there would be a second date or...

    Reason for The Crusades explained

No. I pointed out to @GodsGrace why Jesus instructed them to purchase swords, alluding to his own words on the matter. (See post #100.) It has nothing to do with cruelty. At no point did Jesus ever instruct his disciples to be cruel.

    Reason for The Crusades explained

People are discussing real history and hypothetical situations (application) in this thread. Both are important.

You’re new here, so I’ll give you a pass. No. It’s a long story and you obviously don’t know the details. What you do know is that I’m not a trinitarian.

I’m certain that you don’t have access to a nuclear weapon, but are you “armed, ready to kill” @GodsGrace?

The co-pilot on the Enola Gay … You’ve inflicted great harm and tremendous suffering on your enemy, Captain Lewis. You’re a national hero. Exactly what Jesus wants his disciples to do and to be known for?

    Reason for The Crusades explained

This thread is about an old Catholic war story (which has become expanded to include Protestants, other wars, and even personal self defense from depraved burglars.) Many here don’t think Catholics are Christian so the fact that tens of thousands of Catholics living in those two Japanese cities...

    Reason for The Crusades explained

https://onepeterfive.com/the-bombing-of-japanese-catholicism/ More Catholics were killed at Nagasaki than at Hiroshima but Catholics / Christians were killed (by Christians) in both cities. “Do no harm“ wasn’t written on either of the nuclear weapons.

    Reason for The Crusades explained

These are a couple of effective but not too graphically explicit photographs (from Hiroshima) that I can think of to provide. * This is “penny ante” level of harmful compared to what man is capable of doing now. * This isn’t “DO NO HARM”. This is “DO MASSIVE HARM”.

    Reason for The Crusades explained

All will one day be called upon to answer to Jesus. *** Jesus: “You killed some of my disciples. Why?” Christian: “It’s okay ... um, ‘okay’ isn’t the word I’m looking for. You ‘commanded’ me to kill your disciples if they lived in a kingdom or nation that was at war with the kingdom or...

    Reason for The Crusades explained

It‘s a little known fact that Jesus and the apostles enlisted in the Roman army. Or was it the navy? Well, either way, they served Rome by recruiting disciples for the pagan government’s military that persecuted them.

Thanks. There were other relevant points in the post. (Which is why I didn’t just delete it.) What action, specifically? Knowing that there is no guarantee that any action would prevent you and or your family from being killed or severely injured. The next two verses explain why he told them...
