Jesus is the Son of his God

Even after all the twists and turns that have taken place in this thread, Jesus remains the Son of his God.

Jesus is the Son of his God

Jeremiah and Jesus are both Jewish monotheists who believe in the one God. Neither of them has any belief in “one gods”.

Jesus is the Son of his God

What is that to me? Your argument hasn’t persuaded me and never will. I’ve publicly acknowledged the contrast and leave you with what you are persuaded.
  7. Matthias

Jesus is the Son of his God

Since you cannot be persuaded, I‘ve reached the point where I‘m simply going to acknowledge that you firmly believe in “one gods”. I believe firmly only in the “one God”. I’m content with the contrast.

Jesus is the Son of his God

It’s not the Holy Spirit telling you that a singular phrase is a plural phrase. It’s not any Bible translation, in any language, which is telling you that a singular phrase is a plural phrase. There is no passage of scripture in any language which uses the phrase “one gods”.

Jesus is the Son of his God

That was the accusation made by his enemies. He corrected them. It is you who is standing with them. Echad elohim isn’t a plural phrase. Every English language translation of the phrase renders it properly, correctly, as a singular phrase in the Bibles we have.

Jesus is the Son of his God

No. I stand against them. Misrepresenting what the Hebrew phrase is when properly translated into English - which is what you have done - doesn’t help your case. It helps mine. The NIDNTT quote I posted is correct. I will use the trinitarian source against you.
  11. Matthias

Jesus is the Son of his God

No. The echad elohim of Israel / the one God of Israel is the Messiah’s God. See again NIDNTT. What you said about the Hebrew phrase is what appalls me.
  12. Matthias

Jesus is the Son of his God

Telling people that the correct English translation of the Hebrew phrase echad elohim is “as one gods” is appalling. All English language Bibles translate the phrase correctly. The echad elohim of Israel is the “one God” of Israel. The Messiah isn’t pointing anyone to the “gods of Israel”. The...

Jesus is the Son of his God

The trinitarian source doesn’t do that. That’s not true. English translations of the Hebrew are correct.
  14. Matthias

Jesus is the Son of his God

Scripture doesn’t need updating. NIDNTT is correct.
  15. Matthias

Jesus is the Son of his God

Post #340 isn’t false advertising. The quote from NIDNTT (a trinitarian source) is the documentation of who the one God is in scripture.

Jesus is the Son of his God

I don’t have posting privileges in “Christians Only” forums.

Jesus is the Son of his God

I’m not in your league. Having no interest in the monotheism of Israel is having no interest in the God of Israel.

    Jesus submitted to his God

I just finished reading it. My box for todays 10 is checked.
