I guess as per the OP, some ppl understand 'garb' to mean particular items, vestments, etc. to do with an unnecessary ceremony and formalism. Others understand 'garb' to refer to a more general discussion of what ppl wear in church.

Good to refer to a verse of Scripture, and if ppl still want to argue, then leave it at that.

In some ways as a practice it seems to link in with the transitional Apostolic era, when signs, etc., were more prevalent prior to the completion of Scripture; this is how I would look at it, really.

I can understand it if it simply means identification with a particular person for a particular reason. (Since I don't see demons indwelling those whom the Holy Spirit indwells, I don't see the need for ceremonies for the eviction of demons from true believers in the Lord Jesus.)

It's 'Thus saith the Lord' from Scripture that counts most of all...:)

In all His offices, in all His work and titles, the Lord Jesus is 'better' (keyword in the Epistle to the Hebrews) than ceremony or type or shadow that went before. :)

Biblical simplicity is good to pursue.
