John 1 is such an instructive passage. I find myself going back to it over and over.

Oh I agree. And I hasten to add that I don't really think those 'shoulder hugger' earring in the photo are really suitable for men. But as regards ear piercing (and maybe a lot of the more neutral, small earrings) both young women and young men can pierce their ears and it can look perfectly...

Yes, I agree. Mentioning wholly one or wholly another of these Biblical aspects all the time does not give the full picture. As we grow older, even as we keep our convictions, I'm sure some of us realize that Biblical truth is many faceted, and those many facets do not contradict each other.

I like the verse where "David encouraged himself in the LORD his God" (1 Samuel 30.6); he found the inner strength to persevere, looking in faith to God despite all the pressures and dire circumstances.

Romans and Hebrews also come to mind. We are going through Galatians these days in our local church Bible study. I am struck by the strength and frequency of Paul's warnings to the Galatians (particularly since many of them were from a Jewish background) not allow themselves to slip back into...
