    The Issue of Calvinism.

Certainly there are future prophecies which have not yet been fulfilled; and it seems that Israel and the church are very much distinct also.

    Greetings all

Hi; good to see you. What you say reminds me of Ephesians chapter 2; if you read it, including the part about God's wondrous grace in Christ, it can be a real blessing.

    The Fire is Now?

Great verses there, applicable in the Gospel.

Poll - Tattooing: from male military and biker ethos...to viable witness means for both genders?

It's not only a man thing to do, as it used to be very much; it's also become a very womanly thing to do; I expect not all your friends who have had it done are men.

    The Issue of Calvinism.

The fruit of the Spirit passage in Galatians is indeed searching.

Poll - Tattooing: from male military and biker ethos...to viable witness means for both genders?

Some Christians in time regret their tattoos, some do not, some will even add some faith based ink of the variety that is proven effective in conversations. It varies a great deal, doesn't it? but it's certainly very widespread.

Who would rather be in Florida?

Okay so I nearly fell over on the ice last night up here; it's still: 'rather be in Florida' weather... :)

Ear piercing: for sons as well as for daughters: is it appropriate? (plus poll)

Seems that technically the reference is to Jerusalem. The bottom line is that there are all sorts of reasons why earrings are worn, ear piercing is practised; and the contexts of the many Scripture passages helpfully referred to by @charity are rather varied also. It would seem that the Lord...

Revelation 8:1-5 silence, half hour, earthquake ??

Great passage to read at a believer's funeral. (I think I've been to too many funerals...because I've been around for too long, maybe...)

    The Issue of Calvinism.

    Interesting comparison there.

Terrorist Attack in NZ...49 dead...so far.

The problem is that traditionally governments have not always made this distinction when going against people: the SOE during WW2 was tasked with 'setting Europe ablaze' by Churchill; the Contras were lethal insurrectionists supported by the CIA; the CIA and Bandar, the Saudi ambassador, killed...

    The Issue of Calvinism.

The version I have read is that Calvin was disturbed by the idea of Servetus being burned, but the Council ignored him and went ahead. What Servetus did was a crime, period, at the time, both in the Protestant and Roman Catholic areas of jurisdiction, according to the Justinian Code. It would...

    The Issue of Calvinism.

I take your point, yes. But the idea that if only it hadn't been Calvin - in fact, it was the combination of the Little Council and the Great Council of Geneva that had titular responsibility for Servetus - in Geneva at the time, the Justinian Code would somehow have been interpreted...

    The Issue of Calvinism.

Interesting that in the famous case of Servetus, the Church of Rome had already burnt him in effigy; the Justinian Code then in place meant that either in the Protestant or Roman Catholic areas the end result would be the same, even as both sides were at doctrinal loggerheads; we might with...

Ear piercing: for sons as well as for daughters: is it appropriate? (plus poll)

I guess you never went through the phase of wanting holes put in? Fine! :) These days it's boys and young men as well as their female counterparts who often go through a sort of rite of passage phase of wanting the holes put in, for the convenience of being able to wear rings/studs.

    The Issue of Calvinism.

It's interesting that James 1.18 says: "Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth".

    The Issue of Calvinism.

It depends on what you mean by 'perfect redemption' Biblically.

    The Issue of Calvinism.

God's sovereignty and human responsibility are balancing truths throughout Scripture.
