The happy thread was dead. Long live the happy thread!

    * I guess I need to start looking over my shoulder every 2-3 years just to be on the safe side. *

Does God know why he exists?

God knows that you sometimes wonder about him @Riven.

Origin stories which don’t exist for people, places and things mentioned in the Bible

The flood killed all but the eight humans (and animals) on the ark. That being the case, I presume that someone on the ark was carrying the genes. If that’s not the case then we either don’t have the full story preserved for us in scripture… which is possible … or - using the foolish atheist...

Origin stories which don’t exist for people, places and things mentioned in the Bible

Yes. Exactly. The Christadelphian is using a borrowed argument from atheism - “no origin story = not real“ - to support his belief that the devil and the demons aren’t real and that those who don’t agree with him are “pagan” and “crazy”. It’s an important principle for him, underpinning...

    Christadelphians, the Devil and Satan

Thanks for your reply. Are demons that stupid? I’ve personally encountered (and read about) various behavior types among them. “Stupid” would make the list. Do I disagree with the Christadelphian view of the introduction of sin in Genesis 3, and your view that the serpent was real, and when he...

    Contending with the devil

A question for Christian members who do believe Satan and the demons are real: Is it possible for you to forgive the Christadelphian for the accusations he has made against you?

    Contending with the devil

A question for Christian members who aren’t Christadelphians (if there are any) but, like them, don’t believe the devil and the demons are real: Is it possible for you to express your disagreement with Christians who believe Satan and the demons are real without accusing them as the...

    Contending with the devil

“At first glance, the prophecy in Ezekiel 28:11-19 seems to refer to a human king. The city of Tyre was the recipient of some of the strongest prophetic condemnations in the Bible (Isaiah 23:1-18); Jeremiah 25:22; 27:1-11; Ezekiel 26:1-28:19; Joel 3:4-8; Amos 1:9, 10). Tyre was known for...

    Contending with the devil

“First, the devil is real. In popular culture, there are a wide variety of depictions of the devil. These depictions range from the comical to the abstract. Sometimes, the devil is a little red man with horns, a tail, and a pitchfork, urging people towards sin. Other times, the devil is merely...

    Contending with the devil

“Yes, the devil certainly does exist; he isn’t just an idea dreamed up to explain the existence of evil. Someone has said that one of Satan’s tricks is to convince us he doesn’t exist - but he does.” (Billy Graham, “Does the devil really exist? If so, what does he look like?”)...

    Contending with the devil

“Allow me to state it plainly: demons are fallen angels. They are Satan’s servants committed to his plan to thwart the plan of God.” (David Jeremiah, “What Does the Bible Say About the Origins of Angels, Demons, and Lucifer?”) https://davidjeremiah.blog/angels-and-demons-in-the-bible-part-two/...

    Contending with the devil

Christian readers, the Christadelphian has said something multiple times which mustn’t escape our attention. He‘s said it in this thread and in several other threads - this is a critically important point. He beats it like a drum. What is it? ”No origin story.” He’s taken the time to stress it...
